20 states join bishops in condemning FBI memo profiling 'Latin Mass' Catholics

Missouri Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey and 19 other attorneys general joined Catholic Bishops protesting religious profiling in a leaked Federal Bureau of Investigation memo.

Last week, an FBI internal memorandum dated Jan. 23, was published by Undercover DC, an investigative journalism organization. It mentioned Virginia Catholics, specifically traditional Catholics, some of whom are not in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church, according to information from the Catholic Diocese of Richmond.

The attorneys general seven-page letter of complaint was addressed to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray. The letter states the FBI memo “identifies ‘radical-traditionalist Catholics’ as a potential ‘racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists.’ … Among those beliefs which distinguish the bad Catholics from the good ones are a preference for ‘the Traditional Latin Mass and pre-Vatican II teachings,’ and adherence to traditional Catholic teachings on sex and marriage (which the memorandum describes as ‘anti-LGBTQ’).”

In 2021, Pope Francis ended pre-Vatican II Traditional Latin Masses, stating the liturgies were dividing the Catholic Church.

Last week, New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Religious Liberty Chairman of the U.S. Catholic Council of Bishops, criticized the FBI memorandum. Dolan agreed with a statement made a day earlier by Bishop Barry Knestout of the Diocese of Richmond.

“Let me first be clear: anyone who espouses racism or promotes violence is rejecting Catholic teaching on the inherent dignity of each and every person,” Dolan’s statement said. “The USCCB roundly condemns such extremism and fully supports the work of law enforcement officials to keep our communities safe.

“I agree with my brother Bishop Barry Knestout that the leaked memorandum was nonetheless ‘troubling and offensive’ in several respects – such as in its religious profiling and reliance on dubious sourcing – and am glad it has been rescinded.

How many of these are states who the Bishops condemn as having “cruel” border enforcement policies because the states won’t open the door to an unlimited number of illegals? The problem the Bishops have is that they don’t know who their real allies are.

The fact that there aren’t 50 states siding with the bishops who are against the FBI doing this is very telling.

Separation of church and state, right here.

“...full communion...”

__________

No such term.

One is either in communion, or not. No partial communion.

The noted term appears to have been minted to suggest that certain lay Catholics or certain priests or prelates are quasi-Catholic due to the same are not having professed themselves to be enamored of, or not consider themselves dogmatically bound by the admittedly merely pastoral guidance uttered by the 1960s council commonly referred to as Vatican II.

I noticed that the states condemning the FBI's violation of the First Amendment, these states are all in the South or West. These regions are not areas traditionally considered Catholic. There are no states north of the Potomac River on the list. None the states are on the list which are home to such "staunch" Catholics such as Cuomo, Hochul, and Kennedy Klans.

I’m disappointed that Kris Mayes is currently occupying the office of AG in Arizona. No surprise that she is not on this list.

Reads exactly as if written by one of the half-dozen perpetually-hateful, anti-Catholic, Religion Forum FReeptards.

Until Catholic bishops tell any Catholic working for the FBI that they must choose between their faith and an organization that officially opposes their faith, it’s all posturing.

So where’s the other 30 states, muzzled by the FBI and/or the ‘rats in the Governors’ mansions?

Not so, because anyone who is denied reception of any of the Sacraments but who is not officially excommunicated is no longer in full communion.

These are the states joining Missouri:

***Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia.***

I’m a little surprised Florida’s AG hasn’t signed on, but truly, where are the other 30 states? Where are they?

Well let’s be “(F)rank”:The “Catholics” to whom you refer are CINOs, but then many would argue that’s true of everyone who is now affiliated with a parish of the Conciliar Church!

It's not so hard to believe that devote Catholics may face persecution for their beliefs, I just never expected the Catholic Church itself to. to be the ones who push for their persecution
