Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) hinted on Monday that he will make a decision on a 2024 presidential run after the state’s legislative session wraps up in May, giving the clearest timeline yet of when he could enter the race.
Asked on “Fox & Friends” when he might decide on a White House bid, DeSantis mapped out the coming months, saying that he would embark on a tour to promote his new book, “The Courage to be Free,” and work through the Florida legislature’s regular session, which begins in early March.
“We’re going to sell some books, we’re going to spread the message of Florida. And then on March 8, I have our Legislative Session that’s kicking off,” DeSantis said.
“You ain’t seen nothing yet,” he added. “This is going to be the most productive Legislative Session we have had across the board and I think people are going to be really excited … So those are what we’re going to be doing over these next few months as we get beyond that, then we can decide from there.”
Republican sources have long predicted that DeSantis would wait until after the state legislative session to announce a presidential bid, saying that it would give him a chance to rack up new policy victories so that he hits the campaign trail with fresh momentum.

For those who don’t know, this means he has all the basic training and was even in combat zones.
This is like criticizing Intelligence officers, of which my best friend’s husband was one….in Iraq.
The Florida swamp has D’s from all over the country living in it..
The DC swamp has D’s from all over the country running it..
Big swamp difference..
“...saying that he would embark on a tour to promote his new book, “The Courage to be Free,””
Of course, DeSantis’s courage is equal to or probably overshadows the courage of hundreds of thousands of American who have faced enemy fire. Yes sir. Nothing beats the courage to trick people into voting for you.
You don’t get the point.
He is “playing the game” that certain EverTrumpers try to play.
Being disingenuous about photo ops and their context.
And BTW, bad form, criticizing one guy for not being in a “tough enough” or “dangerous” MIL position, while silence on the other guy who managed to avoid any MIL duty.
Just sayin’.
So you still warp the meaning of Soros’ comments?
Still don’t get that he figures Desantis wins primary, Trump gets mad and goes 3rd party, and splits the vote to let Dems win?
He’s not “endorsing”, he’s hoping Ron runs to ultimately divide and conquer. Because of Trumps huge ego and pettiness.
Who do ya want Reb, a man who built a world wide business empire, who has experience and skills like Trump, who can’t be bought off....Or Desantis, whose only job outside government was a grade school teacher for one year?
lol....
Yes, he was a Navy lawyer instead of taking over daddy’s business. It’s comical how none of you Trumpies ever admit Trump has real flaws that are difficult to overlook. You’re fully invested in the cult of personality. And that’s fine, but you’ll find no quarter when you gather on pro-Desantis threads simply to demonize Desantis and have to twist yourself into a pretzel to find Desantis’ flaws. If all you have is “he was a Navy lawyer who worked for the government!” then you’re going to have a rough couple of years.
You and central_va just love copy-and-paste sloganeering, don’t you?
Trump has many faults. Many, many. And you can’t necessarily outweigh it with all he’s done as a personal empire (built from daddy’s wealth - another point usually ridiculed by FR for years until Trump, to go with the “MIL service” requirement).
Who do ya want Reb, a man who built a world wide business empire, who has experience and skills like Trump, who can’t be bought off....Or Desantis, whose only job outside government was a grade school teacher for one year?
Which one Reb?
But, but, the Ronbots said he wasn’t running!!!
I guess this explains his tour that he’s taking.
To not run. 🙃
Trump is so far ahead….DeSanctimonious is but a mere speck, in the rear view mirror.
Indeed.
The hypocrisy when Trump came on blows my mind.
I mean, I didn’t fully trust Trump, but I didn’t fully dislike him either. Neutral - seeing his show opened my eyes somewhat.
But before Trump: FRers constantly haranguing Rs for being “wealthy”, or for not having MIL service.
Now, they completely ignore that - not a peep about them on FR since Trump was elected. Meanwhile, they’d defend Bush about MIL service compared to Dems who belittled his NG status (and belittle it themselves if compared to better Repub), and then disparage Bush for being from a rich family, etc.
(Not that I myself thought these are REQUIREMENTS - I just cannot help notice the hypocrisy.)
Mr Please Clap…is clapping, for their guy 😂
If you have a disagreement with Desantis on a policy issue, let's talk about that. But if you're just going to parrot the "He's a globalist RINO!" nonsense just because someone else said it on another thread, then you can't be taken seriously. That's the crap MSNBC and The View pulls. We have a lot of Whoopi Goldberg's around here.
“trump has 2 failed marriages and paid off 2 ex wives...”
Paid off 2 ex wives? Oh, you mean alimony. But calling it a pay off sounds so much worse, so why bother being accurate, right? Still, you’ve never bothered to be accurate before, so at least you’re consistent.
you’re using looney leftists tactics with your refusal to address the rest of my post...
trump’s has 2 failed marriages...
trump filed for bankruptcy 6 times...
please stop playing stupid games...
has it ever occurred to you that ron desantis is teaching people how to be winners instead of whiners???...
all you people do is bitch, moan, whine, and complain about ron desantis while he is doing what us floridians elected him to do...
you look like idiots...
30 ... electoral ... votes ...
these people are idiots...
Any politician, but especially any governor, who has a “timeline for his decision” has already decided.
