From the Reuters summary of Saturday, February 19, 2022:
Russia's President Vladimir Putin was set to oversee exercises by strategic nuclear missile forces on Saturday as Western leaders gathered in Munich, fearful that he could order troops massed on Ukraine's border to invade at any time.
Russian-backed separatist leaders in eastern Ukraine declared a full military mobilisation, a day after ordering women and children to evacuate to Russia, citing the threat of an imminent attack by Ukrainian forces. Kyiv flatly denied the accusation and Washington said it was part of Russia's plan to create a pretext for an invasion of Ukraine. read more
Multiple explosions could be heard on Saturday morning in the north of the separatist-controlled city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, a Reuters witness said. ... Separatist authorities on Friday announced plans to evacuate around 700,000 people, citing fears of an imminent attack by Ukrainian forces - an accusation Kyiv flatly denied.
Less than 7,000 people had been evacuated from Donetsk as of Saturday morning, the local emergencies ministry said. Russian news agencies said later 10,000 evacuees had arrived in Russia. ... Hours after the evacuation announcement, a jeep exploded outside a rebel government building in the city of Donetsk and Russian news agencies said two explosions hit Luhansk, one of the main cities in Ukraine's breakaway People's Republic of Luhansk, and part of a gas pipeline in the area caught fire.

This another in the daily series of moonofalabama on the build-up to the Russian invasion. It does have a pro-Russian flavor, no doubt, but interesting nonetheless. It would be interesting if anyone has info contrary to facts set out in article.
“Separatist authorities on Friday announced plans to evacuate around 700,000 people, citing fears of an imminent attack by Ukrainian forces”
Yep, and that is what forced Russia’s hand. The 120,000 NATO-trained Ukrainian troops were set to roll east (against the 40,000 or so in the local militias), and then, after capturing these rebel areas, it would be on to Crimea. Assuming that they did seize Crimea, then Ukraine would meet the conditions for entry to NATO.
...but too bad, Putin rolled first.
The war will end when Putin dies. Explains why he lives in an underground bunker: No windows!
Don't be so sure of that.
“The war will end when Putin dies.”
I agree with that, but there won’t be much of DC left at that point.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure of that. Russian leaders rarely die in their sleep.
Did getting rid of the Kaiser end our problems with Germany?
this is another in a series of bogus Russian dis-information propaganda articles designed to relieve Putin and Russia of any responsibility for illegally invading a sovereign country 1 year ago
don’t believe or trust “Moon of Alabama” ... Putin is solely responsible for starting this war
Was Lenin’s replacement an improvement?
“...this is another in a series of bogus Russian dis-information propaganda articles..”
They do have that reputation. But much of the story is quoted from Reuters News.

And your posts are another in a series of bogus Marxist Canadian dis-information propaganda.
🤗
“Did getting rid of the Kaiser end our problems with Germany?”
No, but bombing the Germans into submission and executing a bunch of Nazis did.
Would you be suggesting that the final solution to the Russian problem is to flatten their cities, execute their oligarchs, and force them to become a civilized country? I will concede that this is a proven method for dealing with criminal regimes.
How do you propose doing that with Russia?
“Was Lenin’s replacement an improvement?”
Stalin killed more Russians than Hitler, NATO, and Zelensky combined.
Not bad for a Georgian.
Or not.
“How do you propose doing that with Russia?”
I don’t. But if Russia makes it necessary then that’s what will happen.
The West wasn’t up to dealing with Germany or Japan until they gave us no other choice. And then we did.
>The war will end when Putin dies. Explains why he lives in an underground bunker: No windows!
Yeah, the Russians will immediately let in western neocons.
