Scarcely a day goes by that we don't hear in the news of another gun rampage. The latest, on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing, caused me to have more than the usual pause about such incidents.
It was personal for me. I did my graduate work at MSU, lived on campus and worked in those buildings. To read of shootings, injuries and death to students in those same buildings that I had been in many times, gave me more than the usual chllls I experience when reading of such incidents.
The loss of life and the injuries to those still fighting for their lives must be more than traumatic for their families and the classmates of those students who are still on campus.
But what about the killer/shooter? He was well-armed, and reports are that the guns he had were held legally. What does that fact do to people who are pressuring for states to impose more stringent laws concerning gun ownership?
What it does is make it more difficult for them to get such laws passed. The truth is, if a person wants to have a weapon and plans to use it to kill wantonly, there isn't much the law can do about it. We try to limit ownership to people who are "safe and sane," but if they are not, the only recourse is to follow up on another grisly crime.

I remember Barbara on channel 2. Man she was hot!
Yup!
I listened to Barbara Simpson on talk radio for many, many years. I miss her wisdom, humor and insight. Barbara is a natural storyteller. Here in the Bay Area, we have a talk radio desert. Most of the terrestrial radio has been removed or ruined.
Talk Radio Murder started here after year 2010, when Cumulus bought up many of the local stations. Yes, there are stations online, but I’m not into that just yet. I use my laptop for looking. ,ot for listening.
LOL! One of my guitar playing buddies mentioned “podcasts” to me and I said I don’t have time for that and he looked at me like I was crazy. Youngsters today huh? He’s 60 BTW. ππ
As long as the gun grabbing far left Dung Beetles continue blaming the guns for gun violence, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE GUN VIOLENCE IN AMERICA. Mass killings have already skyrocketed under the FJB regime and the “defund the police” policies of his tinted windows voter base.
We try to limit ownership to people who are “safe and sane,”
Problem was supposed to be solved back in 1968! LBJ said so!
“Today we begin to disarm the criminal and the careless and the insane. All of our people who are deeply concerned in this country about law and order should hail this day.”-—
Lyndon Johnson signing the 1968 gun control act into law.
[[ After all she supports the second amendment and safe and thoughtful gun laws. ]]
There are something like 30,000 federal gun ,aws onmthe books, and over 100,000 or so state gun laws all total.
How many “safe and effective” gun laws are needed? And if none of those laws are “common sense gun laws” (that left keep screaming that we need, and apparently dont have), then why do we have those dozens of 1000’s of laws?
I have lived with guns in the house from birth to now.
NEVER saw ANY GUN operate by itself.
NEVER was afraid that any guns in the house would do so.
LOCK UP THE MENTALLY ILL-—it seems to a Get Out Of Jail Free Card for every action they decide to take.
Over 80 & AM NOT GIVING UP ANY GUN.
Barbara, Lee Rodgers, Bill Wattenburg β we had it good back then.
later
And her radio show was great
I can see her first mistake here:
Believing "reports".
HUH? Butt, butt, butt, “reports” mean something don’t they? LOL! Yeah, we know. ππ
