Oregon, a hotbed of extremism, seeks to curb paramilitaries

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — An armed takeover of a federal wildlife refuge. Over 100 straight days of racial justice protests that turned downtown Portland into a battleground. A violent breach of the state Capitol. Clashes between gun-toting right-wingers and leftist militants.

The state Legislature is considering a bill that, experts say, would create the nation’s most comprehensive law against paramilitary activity.

It would provide citizens and the state attorney general with civil remedies in court if armed members of a private paramilitary group interfere with, or intimidate, another person who is engaging in an activity they have a legal right to do, such as voting. A court could block paramilitary members from pursuing an activity if the state attorney general believed it would be illegal conduct.

Opponents say the law would infringe on rights to freely associate and to bear arms.

The bill’s sponsor, Rep. Dacia Grayber, a Democrat from suburban Portland, said the proposed reforms “would make it harder for private paramilitaries to operate with impunity throughout Oregon, regardless of their ideology.”

But dozens of conservative Oregonians, in written testimony, have expressed suspicion that the Democrat-controlled Legislature aims to pass a bill restricting the right to assemble and that the legislation would target right-wing armed groups like the Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer, but not black-clad anarchists who have vandalized downtown Portland and battled police.

“This bill would clearly put restrictions on who could gather in a group and for what reasons they chose to,” wrote Matthew Holman, a resident of Coos Bay, a town on Oregon’s southwest coast.

As Bill O’Reilly says, the country is made up of “TEAM NORMAL” and “TEAM STUPID.” Who wouldn’t agree? Well, certainly just about everyone in OR and WA....It’s the best explanation I’ve heard except for what makes some of us NORMAL and others STUPID? I would imagine there are a lot of differing opinions about that.

And whatever laws they come up with will apply only to “right wing extremist” paramilitary outfits. Antifa and BLM will not be affected.

Portlandia is the hotbed of extremism. The rest of the state is mostly normals having to live under their Stalinazi totalitarianism.

Notice how leftists twist the definition of words and ignore the US Constitution.

Democrat pieces of excrement have encouraged the so-called racial justice protesters for years. They are allowed to burn, loot and murder without consequence. It’s all based on a false idea of racial justice and social equity. There have never been such things. There never will be such things.

Democrats are the enemy. It’s their armed military arm that has destroyed American cities. They support them in every way possible. All Democrats, every single last one in this country, need to be treated the way enemies of the United States should be treated. They are THE domestic enemy. Anyone swearing an oath to the US Constitution is breaking his oath by not taking action against the domestic Democrat enemy.

The message is clear. Antifa runs the Oregon state government.

I'm afraid we'll need an exterminator to fix this infestation.

Democrats can’t be trusted to stop Antifa paramilitaries. They are all on the same side - the side of Chaos.

I read the bill, it fully targets conservatives and conservative groups, while giving freedom to the likes of Antiqueefa and BLM types. It will end up passing, making Portapottyland even worse. I hope the “greater Idaho” movement holds strong and wins, then I hope Eastern Washington can follow.

Oregone is a captured state as is Washington and other states....they have contrived the voting system that allows them to take all the elections without so much as a whimper.....

Reason #4 why I didn’t relocate to Oregon. The leftist are embedded in the state.

Looks like you’re in AZ?. We got out of CA to GA 16 years ago. A good conservative state then without a record of bad crime - not true now!!! I guess we’re not guaranteed satisfaction anywhere!

I was born and raised in Oregon; it used to be a wonderful place. Moved to Arizona when I was 30, and I will probably never even visit Oregon again, now that my family has died or moved elsewhere.

Except there aren’t any right wing paramilitary groups - just BLM and ANTIFA terrorists.
