President Joe Biden appears to have run out of time to pass a ban on so-called “assault weapons.”
Not only has he lost control of Congress, where he had focused his legislative efforts to stop the sales of modern sporting rifles, but he is losing the support of the public in his bid to take away the most popular firearm ever.
In the latest Quinnipiac University poll, 48% oppose Biden’s ban, 47% support it. While obviously the nation is split, the numbers do not show the overwhelming support that the president and liberal democrats have been banking on.
Quinnipiac’s findings are not out of the normal. A similar question asked in an early February ABC/Washington Post poll came back with even worse numbers for the White House. In that survey, 51% opposed a ban, 47% supported it.
In his subscriber-based The Reload newsletter, firearms journalist Stephen Gutowski said public sentiment is undermining Biden’s gun ban bid.
“The trend complicates efforts by President Joe Biden and his party to institute a new national ban,” he wrote, adding, “Prospects for a ban to move through Congress this year are even dimmer given the new Republican control of the House.”

A national ban is unconstitutional. Congress can’t pass a law that bans a constitutional right.

Government schools and universities openly teach that I as a white male should be eradicated.

Firms conducting polls have a basic agenda and desired outcome. Knowing this basic principle, polls are skewed as much as possible to keep it within the realm of believability. I would bet it is closer to 60% are apposed if not higher.
As if it matters what the peasants want. Some bureaucrat at the ATF will declare them “machine guns” and everyone who owns one has 120 days to register them, get the stamp, or turn them in. And of course not a single approval will be given in 120 days turning everyone in to felons overnight.
Yep and the 40% don’t know anything about firearms.

With the exception of the military and some law enforcement agencies, 99.99% of the populace has never even seen an “assault weapon,” except on tv.
Joey bananas should thank his border SNAFU for that.
However it is constitutional and he’d have to fight that battle which hasn’t seemed to easy in past attempts.
I got to play with a full auto 5.56 bullpup once. It was a blast. Rubberbands a a hoot too......;^)
