New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport's Terminal 1 will remain closed Friday due to electrical issues, the airport said late Thursday.
Friday's closure comes after a Thursday night power outage at the terminal disrupted more than 100 flights at the city's busiest airport. The airport tweeted that an electrical panel failure, which caused a small fire that was immediately extinguished, was responsible for the overnight outage.

Some 30 flights into or out of JFK were canceled on Friday, according to data from FlightAware, a website that tracks flight cancellations and delays.
"Travelers should check with their carriers for flight status before coming to the airport," JFK officials tweeted in announcing the terminal's closure on Friday.
Airport officials are working with the Port Authority to resolve the issue "as quickly as possible," the airport wrote on Twitter. The airport has been operating affected outbound flights from other terminals, such as Terminal 4, since Thursday, to minimize service disruptions, CBS News New York reported.
Passengers expressed frustration with the delays and cancellations.
"It feels like a movie, like it's not real," traveler Isabella Bivas told CBS News New York. "I'm still waiting for them to say it's a joke."
Some inbound international flights were diverted to other airports along the East Coast such as Boston and Newark. One trans-Pacific flight from Auckland, New Zealand, to New York was forced to turn back due to the outage, with the Boeing 787 making a U-turn at its halfway point, near Hawaii, according to Bloomberg News. Passengers essentially had a 16-hour flight to nowhere.

In Cali some of the worse rehabs re lack of proper maintenance are the public buildings like classrooms, school libraries, school yards.
Then come the city/county/state office buildings.
Most all of the above spend budgeted $’s on salaries, bonuses and ??? for the elites, who controlled those buildings.
Smart Construction Managers refuse to bid on the above.
The delayed maintenance, often, was terrible and maybe worse, about 3 decades ago.
Smart Project Managers refused to bid on any of the so called governmental jobs, noted above.
Many long standing construction companies went belly up after bidding and getting lost causes as jobs.
Airline terminal fire, the latest place of attack added to food processing plants, trains, etc./s
One of our west coast married into our family is a NJ Italian gal with a lot of relatives and friends in the NYC/NJ/PA area.
She now has a grown daughter living and working in that area. So, she has more reason to fly back to the NE Hell Hole as she calls it.
She avoids, JFK, Newark and uses Philly most of the time.
Her travel agent suggested flying into DC/Dulles and catching a train to NJ or driving to and from the DC area.
Yep. Philly, and occasionally Baltimore, was my choice when I lived in the area. NYC is inhabitable.
Nope it’s New York

Trillions for Infistrcure and our airports still like they were bulit in the 1950’s!
He'll talk about lack of gay airplane pilots...🤓
Speaking of power, an interesting resignation yesterday...
Thanks, I will pass Baltimore on to our relative.
Other than the pilots most airport personnel appear to be "poc", which I am sure you have noticed as well.
My wife, who is also technically a "poc" pointed this out to me many years ago as one of her first jobs upon coming to the US was at an airport. She hated it and couldn't wait to get out because most of the employees were - as she called it - "ghetto".
The TWA terminal hotel is nice from pictures. If it was at Tampa or Bradley (Hartford - Springfield International), it would be visited by me...
The plane could’ve landed at Newark, Stewart or Bradley. Bradley does get flights from Logan (Boston) and JFK when those airports get closed.
What is “poc”?

Aha, thank you!
My guess is the NLZ airline operations are point to point and it is cheaper to return back to base than fly into an alternative airport and reroute passengers to different airports.
