This will put a large number of people in that area out of work. Also, a large plastics fire is not good for the environment.

One of my concerns regarding manufacturing is the lack of proper machinery or electrical maintenance over the past couple of years. People have become so lackadaisical about performing their jobs, and so many of those that “can do” have retired, that I’m afraid we will see more such incidents.

Nearly every business here in the panhandle has ‘Help Wanted’ signs out front, all types, restaurants, retail, small businesses, even manufacturing in the Industrial park.

Good jobs are not hard to find, if you are really trying to find one......................

And lots more to come with the DEI push and killing of meritocracy.

Chicago and Baltimore school districts are reporting that they don’t have a SINGLE student reading at grade level. My sister taught math for 45 years and retired two weeks ago. She told me this morning that “not at grade level” doesn’t mean one grade behind: it usually means two, three and even FOUR grades behind.

This will be the “talent” pool companies have to draw from In a few years. Stories such as this will be much more common. Just wait until airplanes and trains start crashing regularly (that’s a joke — we are there).

My niece is a bio-medical engineer who graduated eight years ago. Even that far back, companies didn’t trust her excellent academic record and credentials — several of them tested her before hiring her.

That and hiring is sometimes NOW based on quotas, skin color, race(?), etc instead of ABILITY and track record of good work ethic.
