That's what you get when you want to live in such a frigid climate as California!

I mean - sometimes it even gets below 65 degrees there!

This past week another CA-dwelling friend of mine moved to PA. Where things aren’t rosy but they sure beat CA.

They used up all their gas supply to make electricity to charge electric cars.

“The increase is not fair for working-class families.”

But it’s perfectly fair for everyone else. It’s about time they pay “their fair share!” In fact, gas prices should be on a sliding scale—the needy should get their gas free!

But Brent Eldridge does not have to hear mean tweets! A fair trade off.

For my small 2-bdr apartment, the last 2 gas heating/water heater bills were $136 (Jan) and $124 (Feb).

Feb 2022 highest was $124.

Feb 2021 highest was $84.

Semi-annual auto insurance was $350 in 2019 and increased to $429 in 2023. Same vehicle, 5 years older.

I did notice that egg prices at Walmart have dropped from $5.12/doz to $3.26/per doz.

They are just getting everything they voted for.

Sadly, many of these mindless wonders move to another state and continue with their same voting patterns, then wonder what happened.

The best remedy would be a border wall around Kalifornia to keep their communist agendas to themselves. Just let them self destruct from within.

Oh, and wood fireplaces are now illegal. Uh, if you want to sell your house in the state you have to “convert” an existing fireplace so that wood cannot be used and the conversion cannot be reversed. You can use what you have got but will be attacked by gov’mt if they say the air is too delicate that day.

Umm, like with the plastic bag ban, banning of certain types of gas cans (to carry gasoline), etc — I am certain that whatever Demo commie trash idiot who pushed this bright idea has relatives making $$ off the “conversions”.

I bring this up ‘cause the leccie went out last night and we needed a fire to not freeze.

SoCalGas and PG&E attributed rising costs to unusually cold weather

LOL. Don't they always say that? Its not that cold.

“The increase is not fair for working-class families.”

This, of course, is the knee-jerk response by folks who are already halfway down the socialist hell hole that we have been encouraging in this country.

So what is the answer, sell gas at a loss? From each according to his ability to pay, to each according to his need for gas?

I can assure you, that if you make the price of anything based on “whats fair for the working class”, you’ll be lucky to buy that thing at twice the unfair price on the black market.

I have zone heating in my house. At night I turn off the downstairs heating and drop the upstairs to 66 or 68 and use a thick blanket. It works but my gas bill is still a lot higher than last year.

Same here. Four zones, and still I spend most of my time in the study and sunroom; both have southern exposure, plenty of sunlight on nice days. For all rooms in the house getting any direct sunlight, the blinds are open to get it. And even so I rely on warm clothing, a blanket or a small heating pad rather than reaching for the thermostats. Fortunately in PA February 2023 has seen record warm temps. Haven't seen enough snow to shovel yet this winter!
Gasoline is the sore spot: $3.80/gal. :( I do a whole lot of driving.

California imports about 90% of its natural gas...

That is a big reason. Dependent on others.
