Nicaragua strips 94 prominent dissidents of citizenship

Among those declared "traitors to the fatherland" are award-winning writer Sergio Ramírez, poet Gioconda Belli and Catholic bishop Silvio Báez.

All 94 are outspoken critics of President Daniel Ortega, who is in his fourth consecutive term in office.

They are the second group of government critics to have their citizenship revoked after 222 government critics had theirs rescinded last week.

Many of those on the list of 94 are living abroad. The judge described them as "fugitives from justice" even though many of them left Nicaragua before any charges were levelled against them.

Other stripped of their nationality on Wednesday are a former Nicaraguan ambassador who denounced his own government as a dictatorship and who has since been living in the US and the Auxiliary Bishop of Managua, who has been living in Miami for almost three years.

This was followed by the 94 dissidents dancing for joy and thanking God they were no longer considered Nicaraguan citizens.

Unfortunately for him, natural born citizens can’t have their US citizenship revoked. Not unless someone is able to pass a Constitutional amendment to create that power.

There is a lot of fear in Mexico that AMLO will do the same in there and make himself dictator.

My wife is from there so as you can imagine we are watching closely. Her family are mostly professionals in various industries but probably could not emigrate to the USA.

This was all enabled by the American Left.

This could start a trend.
If your country of origin revokes your citizenship, I imagine the paperwork for amnesty and permanent residency in the USA would sail through immediately.
Might be the best thing to happen to those lucky migrants.

“...probably could not emigrate to the USA”

Can’t they just walk right in like millions of their countrymen and women?

Naturally Dicktater Daniel Ortega was an early bird in support of Dicktater Vlad Putin’s war against Ukraine.

In the 80’s Democrats loved this regime.

There is a lot of fear in Mexico that AMLO will do the same in there and make himself dictator.

You don't understand Mexico my friend. The "party" runs the Mexican government. It is an agrarian revolutionary government similar to ..... uh Russia.

The "PRI" and "PAN" are similar to our Dem/RINOs. They are just better at creating the illusion of choice.

That is basically what the cartel wars are a piece of. It is the ongoing civil war between groups of men with weapons "representing" the mestizos/campesinos against the more European partido in power who tend to be more fair skinned and are communsists to the very core.

The US is just a safety valve. If we ever "closed" the border, Mexico would be a failed state in the Lebanese, Yugoslavian tradition within a year.

If you'd care to see a civil war... go to Mexico and live outside of the "resorts" that launder the cartels money...hahahaha.

You ever wonder why the resorts are so cheap? Well now you know.
