I have nothing at all against Ron DeSantis, as I think he is among the very best governors to ever serve the state of Florida.

Very true but given the last two before him, that ain’t saying much.

He does good things there. But he isn’t the only person. The folks propping him up have a great way of ignoring the state legislature, other Republicans in the state government and all the counties that are dominated by Republicans.

One big group with a common agenda.

But for some reason, it’s all DeSantis. As if he was the Governor, County Sheriff, running an excavator or flying coast guard helicopters

One story, a while back…..DeSantis gets road opened in record time….was he doing the work? Or did the state/county hire a contractor that actually got the work done in a timely manner.

So, at the end of the day is he really that good, and he isn’t bad I admit, or is that every other Republican Governor and state legislature sucks so bad. Because the ones in places like Georgia and South Carolina are horrendous.

You mean the way Trump gets credit for energy independence (did he drill the wells) the Abraham accords (did he personally negotiate) etc?

Trump set the stage for those things. So did DeSantis.

Also, DeSantis, in this last election focused on campaigning heavily to elect more Republicans so he had more folks propping him up. Trump failed to accomplish the same.

Good commentary, guys.  The discussion of Trump vs. DeSantis reminds me of the Cruz/Trump fisticuffs in 2016.

My guess is FReepers will influence the election but not decide who gets the GOP/Maga nomination in 2024.  The contest will probably be settled by the rank and file Boaters of Florida.  Who do they want as their next President?

Trump clearly had them in his camp in 2020.  And what did those rich folks from NYC do when they moved to Florida.  I'll bet a lot of them bought a yacht!
