The ‘DeSantis Is Trump Without the Baggage’ Crowd is in for a Rude Awakening
American Thinker ^ | February 15, 2023 | Matt Kane

Since President Trump left office, many of the “trustworthy” media outlets have created a talking point that is now held by a minority, yet noticeable number of Conservative Americans. The belief is “DeSantis is Trump, without the baggage.”

If DeSantis chooses to run for president, whether that is in the next election or sometime down the road, his opponents (from both parties) and leftist media will have no shortage of ammunition to create baggage specific to him.

1) As Governor of Florida, DeSantis image as a protector of school children and being “anti-groomer” has gone unchallenged. His press secretary Christina Pushaw (more on her later) took to Twitter to categorize his signing of the Parental Rights in Education act as an “Anti-Grooming Bill.”

2) Recently, he has been accused of partying with his own female students when DeSantis was a 23-year-old teacher in Georgia in 2001. Photo evidence shows DeSantis surrounded by 3 girls holding what looks like an alcoholic beverage.

3) DeSantis began a military career where he was a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer.

4) hich means accusations of DeSantis greenlighting cruel and inhumane forms of torture on detainees at Guantanamo Bay, including force feeding detainees through a nasal feeding tube pushed down their throats while DeSantis allegedly watched in amusement, will eventually be addressed.

5) DeSantis GOP opponents will undoubtedly question him on his Press Secretary, Christina Pushaw, who recently had to register as a foreign agent because of her paid work with, of all people, a Ukrainian politician named Mikheil Saakashvili.

Let’s face it, the Left will go full throttle after any Republican running for POTUS. You could be Mary Poppins and it would not matter.

You could be Jesus Christ and it would not matter. In fact, they'd go after Him with more demonic fury than anyone else.

President Trump, as the Late Great Rush Limbaugh had stated repeatedly, is the man given the world’s most thorough anal exam in history, and the result was they had to make crap up about him, stated months ago that he has gathered a treasure trove of info on governor Desantis.
He said he and his team are holding onto that info to see if Desantis actually decides to throw his hat into the ring and challenge the president.
After the brutal treatment, President Trump has received as a result of his daring to enter politics and win the man is likely in no mood to play Mr. Magnanimous with politicians unless he deems it tactically or strategically necessary.

“Neocon” is a meaningless bullshit word, people who call others “neocon” merely discredit themselves.

I've been trying to tell people that for 20 years! GMTA

Trump tweets before thinking….

From the moment the man announced to now, those “tweets before thinking” have forced the MSM and everyone else to start talking about something that the DeepState, Establishment, UNIPARTY, MSM, Left, RINOs, Chamber of Commerce, Wall St, etc etc wanted buried under a mountain.

There were plenty of times I shook my head, thinking….WTF did he say now…only to find out some time later that he was right or he was forcing someone’s hand to expose themselves.

You’re kidding, right? There is countless lawsuits of groping, rape et al since the early 80s, 12 I think, including a Jane Doe associated with Epstien. Read long before he ran for President in 2000. As well as business partners and friends arrested for trafficking. There’s plenty on Trump’s past. You hold him up as a Saint, as if he has no past.

Whether Ron DeSantis has significant baggage or not, even the least indiscretion will be magnified to massive size. And it won’t be only Democrat Socialists that will be proclaiming any such vision, it will be an uncommon number of professional agitators within the halls of the Republican party as well.

I have nothing at all against Ron DeSantis, as I think he is among the very best governors to ever serve the state of Florida. And that should be the focus of his attention until early in 2027, when he shall be termed out from the governor’s office.

Now, in the campaign in 2028, DeSantis is the top tier candidate for nomination to run for the Presidency on the Republican ticket. But to become involved in the Presidential sweepstakes in 2024, would be clearly premature and ultimately a defeat for the Republican cause, such as it is.

Presidential timber is wood that should be well seasoned before using in construction of anything.

He bombed Syria? Or did he bomb ISIS in Syria when his predecessor was dropping leaflets and letting them get away with stolen oil that they used to fund their operations.

He more or less did stop operations in Afghanistan and had negotiated a complete withdrawal of US forces. Forces that, pretty much, the entire congress and DOD didn’t want withdrawn because so much money was still being made.

Why was Pres Trump negotiating with the Taliban, people ask. Because Pres Trump stopped the scam of US taxpayers footing the bill for the salaries, feeding and equipping Afghan cops and soldiers. Right around the same time the Taliban was in the process of reclaiming provinces all over the country. It was only a matter of time before they took back control and Pres Trump knew it. So why not deal with the right people.

Very true but given the last two before him, that ain’t saying much.

He does good things there. But he isn’t the only person. The folks propping him up have a great way of ignoring the state legislature, other Republicans in the state government and all the counties that are dominated by Republicans.

One big group with a common agenda.

But for some reason, it’s all DeSantis. As if he was the Governor, County Sheriff, running an excavator or flying coast guard helicopters

One story, a while back…..DeSantis gets road opened in record time….was he doing the work? Or did the state/county hire a contractor that actually got the work done in a timely manner.

So, at the end of the day is he really that good, and he isn’t bad I admit, or is that every other Republican Governor and state legislature sucks so bad. Because the ones in places like Georgia and South Carolina are horrendous.

Lawsuits are filed against the very wealthy almost as often as traffic tickets. Not a single one of those has ever resulted in a conviction because they had no merit. Trump the businessman NEVER settled out of court when sued. He fought every single accusation in court. And, most suits were subsequently dropped.
These are detailed in his books AND he spoke of that extensively in a great many of his early campaign rallies prior to winning in 2016.
You mention Epstein. Epstein paid for membership at Mara Lago. Later, when Trump got wind of rumors about the man he rescinded Epsteins membership. There was absolutely no relationship between the two.
To paraphrase President Reagan, so much of what you know just isn’t so.

He bombed Syria? Or did he bomb ISIS in Syria

Is that relevant? When his predecessor was dropping leaflets and letting them get away with stolen oil that they used to fund their operations

Actually, it was the opposite. Obama was bombing Syria, and sending the military a lot. Trump said he wouldn't.

But you think the U.S. should be bombing and invading wherever they can?
