Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg shifted part of the blame for the recent derailment of a train carrying toxic chemicals in Ohio on the Trump administration reversing a little-known safety rule. Buttigieg noted Tuesday evening that his agency had taken a series of steps to improve rail safety through "historic investments," but said it was constrained by the Trump administration action. In 2018, the Department of Transportation (DOT) withdrew a rule proposed three years earlier requiring trains carrying certain dangerous chemicals to utilize electronically controlled pneumatic (ECP) brakes, saying the technology's benefits were inconclusive.

And this one more reason I really don’t like queers.

Biden had two years with a democrat majority in the senate and the house and did nothing. Yep...not changing it means they agreed with it.

He was entrusted hundreds of billions of tax payer money for infrastructure. He’s been spending his time and this money on the wrong things.

What stopped them from reversing this rule on Day 1? They have reversed all of the other rules that Trump implemented through the alphabet agencies.

I doubt that had anything to do with this crash.

At this time, this would seem to be correct. Such systems still have a fault with activation being caused by other signal traffic and in some cases possible electric impulses.

So where the rules ever in place before being withdrawn ?
I doubt Obama, Trump, and Biden are exactly experts on the braking systems on trains anyways so I wouldn’t really blame any of them anyways.

If it is so obvious that the Trump Administration did something bad by reversing that rule on train safety, then why didn’t the Biden Administration reinstate that rule? I'm sure that Petey intended to reinstate that rule, but was distracted and overwhelmed by the many burdens imposed by new motherhood.

So for all this time, well over 150 years since trains have been operating all over the country, none of them have been forced to use these super-special brakes that the rule is concerned with, and yet we have somehow avoided continual train derailments...
