A Russian journalist was sentenced to six years in a penal colony on Wednesday for accusing the Russian air force of bombing a theater in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol last April where women and children were sheltering.
The Lenin district court in the Siberian city of Barnaul also banned Maria Ponоmarenko from working as a journalist for five years, according to a court service statement. State prosecutors had asked for a nine-year sentence.

At least she wasn’t murdered like so many other Russian journalists. The West is watching now, and Putin knows it.

The West is watching now, and Putin knows it.Putin doesn't give a rip about what the Left West thinks, after observing the pink Commie petunias overrun the schools and US armed forces.
It was hilarious watching The Klown of Kabul run his tranny mouth about Russia the other day.

Just wait for the Putin bootlickers to come defend this. What are they going to do with themselves after Putin loses?

Read the article twice and couldn’t find reference to the crime with which she was charged.
I know the Russians imprison domestic “enemies” with regularity, but surely they at least assign a bogus charge.

It's fascinating watching you defend the lying scum that are our Western "journalists".
Maybe if we had something like this in the US, it would get some of their minds right.
It's hard to say with American Media sociopaths, though...

Publishing disinformation or outright Kiev propo was her “ crime”
Doesn’t sound like she interviewed a lot of the Mariupol
residents who were there and had a far different story

Ponomarenko was charged under a Russian law that appeared on the books shortly after the Feb. 24, 2022, when the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. The law forbids the ‘dissemination of false information about the Russian Armed Forces.” All signs seem to indicate that prosecutors do not intend to be lenient with Ponomarenko.

“Her” not “him”. Your level of reading comprehension maybe explains why you are so easily suckered in by FSB propaganda.

The theater was clearly marked “дети” (”children”) and the russians went ahead and bombed it anyway, killing hundreds of kids and women. Syrians with experience in russian tactics from Aleppo taught the Ukrainians to never ever mark a hospital, school or civilian shelter as such - russians target them specifically, to inflict maximum terror.

Way to win hearts & minds, Pootie Poot.
BTW, the WSJ recently estimated 97% of Russia’s military is now engaged in Ukraine. And he’s still not making great progress. Even if that number is a joke it’s not looking real great for the invaders.
