"We now estimate 97% of the whole Russian army is in Ukraine," Wallace told the BBC on Wednesday. "We haven't actually seen this massing of a single force to punch through in a big offensive," Wallace told BBC. "We've just seen an effort to advance, and that has come at a huge cost to the Russian army."...Western officials are skeptical of Russia forging an all-out offensive next week, partly because it has already activated the vast majority of ground forces inside Ukraine territories.

Putin needs to achieve something big and soon or it’s bye-bye time, imo.

“97%, really? Truth is the first casualty of war.”

Yes, I doubt that. Any army needs far more than that back home to handle logistics and training.

Maybe he means 97% of the forces for the ongoing Winter Offensive are now in Ukraine?

Excellent! The UK "Military" should be able to take Moscow and everything to the East of it in less than a week, ....

unless they're scared to death, which is more likely.

No one knows what will happen in a war, but my guess is the same as yours. Putin knows that NATO won't invade and occupy Russia, unless Russia uses weapons of mass destruction with great effect or attacks NATO countries. So he will dedicate most of his military resources to his conquering effort, especially if his conquering effort is otherwise bound to fail.

Perhaps, but no way is 97% of Pooty’s army in Ukraine.

97% of the recently mobilized forces?

You nailed it, particularly the logistics part. I’m tired of being lied to, particularly when it is easily proved to be false.

Vlad has an active 1.5 million man Army. 300-350,000 are near/ in Ukraine, ( infantry/ armor much less) the bulk of his military are deployed on Russian borders should NATO decide to do something really, really stupid.

The liberated Lughansk and Donetsk province military ( seperate and distinct) have an estimated 150,000 -175,000 plus but those have been reduced since their war for Independence with the Ukies started in 2014.

Yes it’s Nonsense. Russia has 200K in NJ its naval and maritime patrol forces. Likely 80 to 100 K in the Rocket forces. Plus its FSB border security forces. Now maybe the UK minist ft y means Russian ground forces and since it had around 200K pre war in its GF the 97 number might be while not accurate at least a lot closer to reality.

My dog predicted 51%. I trust my dog.

From a similar WSJ article:

“We now estimate 97% of the whole Russian army is in Ukraine,” U.K. Defense Secretary Ben Wallace told the British Broadcasting Corp.’s “Today” show on Wednesday.

Russian forces were trying to advance on all fronts, he said, adding: “We haven’t actually seen this massing of a single force to punch through in a big offensive. We’ve just seen an effort to advance, and that has come at a huge cost to the Russian army.”

Even if they are off, by a LOT, not looking great for the invaders.

NOBODY believes 97%.

Not even the UK Defense Secretary or the guy who wrote the article.

9/10 Western Ukrainians surveyed say 97% of Russian forces are mobilized against Ukraine. 97% consensus!
