Former President Donald Trump's campaign is examining ways to win over the mail-in vote after the Democrats' performance in the 2020 presidential and 2022 midterm elections. The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump's staff is examining state laws on absentee and mail-in voting, as well as ballot harvesting techniques.
Trump, who was famously critical of mail-in votes following the 2020 election, is changing his tune following comments by some GOP 2024 presidential hopefuls, like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who have criticized the party for not capitalizing on opportunities in recent elections by focusing too much on Election Day turnout.
The change of heart can be observed in a Trump fundraising email released earlier this week which read, "The radical Democrats have used ballot harvesting to cancel out YOUR vote and walk away with elections that they NEVER should have won. But I’m doing something HUGE to fight back.”
He continued: “Our path forward is to MASTER the Democrats’ own game of harvesting ballots in every state we can. But that also means we need to start laying the foundation for victory RIGHT NOW.”
Trump told Breitbart News in December that the GOP has to "live with the system that stinks" but maintained that "a mail-in ballot will always be corrupt," and that Republicans need to look for ways to make elections more secure.
Other Republicans have noted that the GOP simply needs to use whatever tools available to win over voters and that the Republican National Committee is looking into the issue following the midterms last November.
Roughly 60 percent of Democrats voted by mail in 2020 compared to 30 percent of Republicans.

I’m reminded of the book “The Stainless Steel Rat for President”.🤔
The Republicans probably cannot beat the Dems at this tactic because for the Dems it includes massive xerox voting and arrant vote stealing which Republicans won’t do and, because there is nothing really secret about it they will be open to arrest and detention on the grand scale.
You clearly do not understand the problem.
Ballot harvesting is legal in 32 states, mostly in swing states that decide national elections. Ballot harvesting ensures the White House and Senate remain in Democratic hands.
Ballot harvesting also ensure the governorships in those swing states remains in Democratic hands....meaning the election laws you so desire will never get changed.
We must use ballot harvesting to not just win back the White House and Senate, but to win back state governorships and state supreme courts so these laws can be eliminated and then you can have your voter ID.
If that happens, then the solution is not at the ballot box.
We need to exhaust every option before we abandon the ballot box in favor of the other one.
If the courts are so far gone that Republicans get charged for doing what Democrats do in voting, then it is time to move beyond the ballot box.
But we have to try.
We do. But,.... when the game is slanted by the left so our side can't even be heard, we have to fight fire with fire!! That means whatever they are doing we either need to stop it or do it better.
Great post you are correct.!!
Thanks for pointing this out. We all saw this ballot harvesting coming. Was Trump over-confident of the power of his personal brand? Causes me concern about his political (one trick pony?) thinking. Hmmmmmh.
Team Trump reportedly knew all about it back to 2016, when 5 states were stolen from what would have been an even bigger win. But what have they managed to do about it—including over the 4 years Trump was in office?
Fewer GOP voters vote by mail in part because they are aware how the postal workers’ union fleeces their votes in the mail system.
Many of those GOP residents — and semi-coherent Dem residents — already get their votes cast for them by the Dem machine.
Like Rush said, it is hard to compete with Santa Claus.
That means whatever they are doing we either need to stop it or do it better.
I agree we need to stop it. But the way we’ll eventually do so isn’t going to be pretty.
