The end goal has never been to force most people to drive electric cars. The goal is to force most people to live in densely packed democrat controlled large cities and ride mass transit.
Rich liberals will stll be able to ride around in anything they want, but will not get stuck in traffic.
Restricting mobility is what it’s always been all about.
To the totalitarian left, ending freedom (in the case freedom of movement) is a feature, not an bug.
Falling off the curb? ;-P
they promise the jetsons
you get the flintstones
or do what i did and
get in the ground floor of
uber rickshaws
As electric cars become more common, the number of gas stations will decrease. That is what I worry about.
Just wait until people see the cost of replacing the batteries! I read it is about $20,000 or so.
“It’s not, they’re pushing us to a ration society they control. Total serfdom.”
Yep, it will be like that Dark Mirror episode where the state will assign you a certain number of credits based on how useful and productive they think you are, and that’s all you get. Maybe if we are lucky they’ll give us a game show with gladiator matches or something where we can risk our lives to get more.
We will be back to the 1500s where the serf/ person maybe once in their lifetime was able leave the village they were born in.
Maybe to to a gov approved “pilgrimage”.
“...whatever it takes to make us drive glorified golf carts.”
Whatever it takes to restrict our freedom of movement by controlling how much and when we can drive our glorified golf carts.
I travel frequently for work, often for somewhat distant destinations. My wife came with me last week for a road trip from Maryland to New Orleans. She’s a meticulous planner and had a hard time dealing with my “I’ll drive till I’m tired and then find a hotel.” mentality.
I couldn’t handle an EV for myriad reasons.
RE: “I’ll drive till I’m tired and then find a hotel.” mentality.
How sure are you that the nearest hotel you’ll see when you’re tired will have a room available?
Enslavement and peasantry is the American future
I live in Alabama. Our legislature should ban the sale of electric vehicles immediately.
“ Why are we at the mercy of the Left?”
Because no one will really fight them. Not in the way you would have to to end their reign of terror.
“Not to mention having to wait roughly an hour each time your EV has to charge.”
Also not “mentioned”, waiting an additional hour in your car for each EV in front of you waiting to charge or in the process of charging.
90 Plus hotel nights a year. I’ve had one time where it’s been a challenge.
Many of those have been making the reservation from the parking lot.
I still don’t know why hybrids such as the non-plug in regenerative Lincoln MKZ hybird that we own is not a thing? 40mpg nearly 500 miles on a 13 gallon gas tank for a full luxury sedan.
(Not bragging on the luxury—Hi Hi)
But hybrids are a natural stepping stone—using some battery—using some gasoline to get increased mileage and thus saving the pocket book and the atmosphere
I have read that powering an electric vehicle is now more expensive than a gas powered car. When states add the road taxes to the cost of the electric power, commercial charging stations are used and your time and effort get to the commercial powering station, not to mention the time for te charging, the cost well exceeds that of the simpler gas powered engine. Not everyone has a garage to house their own personal powering station.
