Lee Waters Deputy Minister for Climate Change announced decision on Tuesday Plans for a third Menai bridge and the Red Route in Flintshire will not go ahead

The Welsh government has axed all the country's major road-building projects to put environmental concerns first.

The decision was announced on Tuesday by Lee Waters, Deputy Minister for Climate Change, who said all infrastructure projects in future must now 'reduce carbon emissions and support a shift to public transport, walking and cycling'.

It follows a year-long review by the Welsh Roads Review Panel which was set up in September 2021 and led by transport expert Dr Lynn Sloman, during which 55 road projects were paused and reassessed.

In response to the panel's findings, plans for a third Menai bridge will now no longer go ahead and neither will the Red Route in Flintshire.

Other projects have been scaled back or postponed, with only 15 of the projects reviewed by the panel to go ahead in their original form.

This will make a .00000000001% difference in global CO2 emissions. As China and India put out as much CO2 as they like. How many Jim Jones Jabs has this man gotten? They can derange your mind and lower your IQ.

Well built roads should cause less pollution as they make for a smoother ride lessening the need for constant braking and accelerating. Also less wear and tear on a car means a longer life for numerous parts.

The issue will be self correcting. Countries that do stuff like this will eventually virtue signal themselves into irrelevance and less stupid countries will rise to power in the world. Unfortunately those countries will probably not have the best interests of the citizens of the declining country at heart. When the Chinese roll through the UK because they wasted all their resources on silly climate change BS instead of things that matter, it’ll be their own fault.

I was stationed in England in 1973. People were complaining then that the whole island would be paved if sprawl wasn’t curtailed. LOL!

I’ve figured it out. To be in this climate cult the wannabe members must first have their soul removed then a deep frontal lobotomy rendering them zombie-like.

Soulless Zombies are the climate cultists.

There was a science fiction novel a few years ago and the cover showed a ruined city and an abandoned freeway multi-level cloverleaf with a lone truck trailer being pulled by horses.

Our future.

Jennifer Granholm, now Biden cabinet member, when she was Michigan Governor started a program of saving money by allowing paved roads to revert to dirt and gravel roads. No more maintenance or pothole repair projects for them.

When I was a boy our suburb grew and one by one paved all the old and new side streets and even the alleys as a mark of progress and pride. One day it was announced all were paved. As a kid my buddies and I rode our bikes down to watch the big concrete laying machines doing the projects.

Now to revert to dirt for various Michigan roads was a shame.

Mr Waters: Please explain how the minuscule amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can cause climate change. Thanks! 🙄

So taxes will go down tremendously now that they don’t have to pay for all those expensive projects, right?

The Welsh won’t be happy until they can go back to the time of Edward I or Llywelyn ap Gruffudd. They would then be able to go back to living in hovels and caves.
The English sincerely regret conquering the Welsh and Scots. The Scots are penurious and the Welsh never had two pennies to rub together. England would like to get rid of the two as they are both cost centers. The two areas are financial basket cases and are not viable on their own. The Welsh are hellbent to re-instituute the Welsh language which no one, not even themselves, understands. They only speak it when the English are around as an aggrevation. Otherwise they speak English. Not much of a market these days for coal and slate.

Tomorrow’s headline

Welsh taxpayers axes ALL their tax payments - and say no more will be paid unless the government won't spend more then last year.
