SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A recent attack on a Sacramento family at a sideshow that was caught on video is raising questions about safety and security.
Amanda Hensley said she and her four children were in their van when they got stuck in a crowd at Amherst Street and Meadowview Road, where cars were doing donuts after midnight Saturday morning. Cellphone video posted on social media shows the crowd appearing to get violent toward the family. Hensley said people threw beer bottles at her van, adding that someone pushed the children’s father and someone also punched her 14-year-old son.

Try to find a safe and legal alternate route to avoid the sideshow activities
If you're already caught in the middle of a sideshow, call 9-1-1 and provide descriptive information of the vehicles and people involved
Do not engage with individuals participating in sideshows, as it could put your life in danger
Have pump or semi-auto 12 gauge preferably wit 18 to 20 inch barrel loaded with 3 inch magnum 00 for close in action
Have side arm loaded with extra clips available for further out action
Have semi auto rife to eliminate vehicles within range
Drive family to safety while keeping watch for possible threats
“sideshow”, or thought that term was reserved for comedy. This sounds more like a sh*tshow.
Any advice for the police? Like “Do your job!”
Yeah, and a couple grenades handy for effect.
Leave your car and pay a towing bill? How about enforce the #%€#£# law!
Those are basically children out there. Crack down on them, and no excuses. Who puts up with this nonsense?
Enforce the law!
Impound their vehicles.
Make them watch their rides being “processed” in the crusher.
I wonder who Amanda voted for?
Call Ponch and John they will respond on their Sunny skills Bikes
They need the EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle.
“Sideshow” is apparently a definition adopted by the Holy Sea of CA to describe its citizens doing what is so common that it required a name:
“a crowd at Amherst Street and Meadowview Road, where cars were doing donuts after midnight Saturday morning.”
First I’ve read of the term.
My take: California is a ‘sideshow’.
Avoid at all costs.
And FReepers who hail from the sideshow: Rationalize it all you want, but you’ll never change a thing. Time to leave.
Resist Not Evil. Is that Pollyanna?
It means, really, truly try to go back.
Realize you don’t have a dog in that fight.
You can see unnatural behavior blocks away.
U-Turn, or use the gear setting marked “R”.
That’s for “Reverse.”
You’ll have much less problem, if you aren’t part of it.
“When Trouble Gets in My Way, I go ‘Round It.”
Since the police won’t do their job, citizens need to be armed to protect person and property, simple solution. Mob rule cannot be ignored by the police.
Absolutely brilliant advice. Now I know why he is the expert.
I thought it was referring to a carnival — like the bearded lady sideshow. Attacks by thugs are sideshows? Hmmmmm.
She and her husband aren’t too smart. He and one kid were outside of the vehicle and were surprised they got punched. The minute they approached a bunch of loud people in the road and cars everywhere, maybe, just maybe they should have thrown it in reverse and got out of there. Guessing the other children were younger than the 14 who got out into the crowd. Why were they driving young children around after midnight in what we can assume was a sketchy neighborhood?
Free Republic would die without California.
Sideshow is an odd name for a street takeover.
I have s feeling the parents were out to see the “sideshow” and things went south. Or, maybe they were looking for drugs in the bad part of town. Either way, it was stupid to be out with the kids that late.
One thing I found funny. State Patrol said “Try to find a safe and legal alternate route to avoid the sideshow activities”
Sorry folks, I’ve got 4-wheel drive and the truck stands high off the road. I’m taking ANY route that gets me and the family safely out of there...legal or not.
