Plainfield is in Kendall County IIRC.

That’s going to put a lot of BLM rioters and looters out of jobs.
People walk in fill up a cart and walk away without paying ?
CEO Doug McMillon did say in December on CNBC that retail theft which he said was at record levels will lead to either ‘higher prices’ or ‘stores closing’.
A general statement not singling out any stores.
Brought to you by the Democrat Party and their soft-on-crime policies.
I’m so old I remember when Chicago didn’t WANT any wal-marts because they were predatory.
Now it’s going to be “you wypipo be creatin food deserts”
A lot of the times the thieves get a job there and on truck day, they steal the merchandise before it ever gets scanned in.
Shoplifting.
“Some suburban Chicago criminals will soon have one less option nearby to steal groceries and other goods: Walmart.”
Fixed!
The Chicago area, and Illinois in general, are pretty lax about enforcing “petty” crimes like shoplifting. Add to that, pilferage by employees, and it soon becomes no longer economically feasible to maintain a presence. So another box store abandons the market, leaving what might be opportunity for small niche retailers to jump in, except the shoplifters come after them too, and they are soon out of business.
Prosperity falls to a very low level for everybody.
they try to do that in the Birmingham area. Witnessed it 2 times in the last month. They got caught. Hint: if the walmart has gates at the entrance, its got a lot of shoplifting.
In Florida it’s a felony when the shoplifting’s over $400.
Under Illinois law, retail theft may be a misdemeanor or a felony depending upon the value of the items stolen. Under Illinois law if someone steals goods worth more than $300, the crime should be charged as a felony.
Foxx ignored the law and stated that she will not prosecute shoplifters as felons unless they stole more than $1,000.00 in merchandise.
Without penalties, shoplifting has increased dramatically.
It depends on the dollar amount as to whether shoplifting would be considered a felony crime or not.
The Chicago area did not have Wal-Marts because of political pressure brought to bear by unions who were allies of the local elected officials. Wal-Mart has a deserved reputation for its hostility towards organized labor.
Walmart’s computer system is such that they know their inventory from warehouse to truck to store.
The only thing they aren’t sure of is the shrinkage in the store even though they have a location where empty wrappers, boxes, etc. are to be placed when found by stockers.
Stealing items off a shrink wrapped pallet often higher than your head would be extremely difficult. There are times when a trailer arrives that’s literally packed so no excessive space is left between the items and a roller conveyor is used to unload and place on pallets
That’s the exception rather than the rule.
Once a year an outside company inventories every store.
I never saw a broken case.
Pack of Gum: $401, ($400 discount for paying cash).
Cola: $402, (400 discount for paying cash).
Everything in my store would have a list price of over $400.
Urban America is becoming devoid of decent, rational, productive citizens. Only a fool would voluntarily live, start or invest in a business in such Democrat run horrible places.
