Mercenary leader Prigozhin says Russia faces resistance in taking Ukraine’s Bakhmut

The head of Russia’s Wagner mercenary group said in a rare interview made public on Friday that Russian forces must capture the strategic city of Bakhmut to proceed with their campaign but faced fierce resistance from Ukrainian defenders.

-snip-

“Bakhmut is needed so our troops can operate comfortably,” Prigozhin said. “Why is it called the meat grinder? Because the Ukrainian army is sending more and more and more units.”

“It is probably too early to say that we are close. There are many roads out and fewer roads in. Ukrainian troops are well trained ... and like any large city it is impossible to capture it from head-on. We are managing very well.

“First we have to quietly take Artyomovsk and then we can say loud and clear that we have taken it,” he added, referring to Bakhmut by the Soviet-era name used by Moscow.

In all seriousness, the fact is that both sides are taking horrendous casualties.

I don’t believe much of what I read about this war on a day-to-day basis. There’s a lot of disinfo on both sides, and even direct quotations from officials can be fabricated.

What is clear in the big picture is that for the Russians, this has been an unmitigated disaster for a year now, and it is the responsibility of all decent peoples to make sure that they do not profit at all from what was nothing more than naked imperialist aggression.

If Prigozhin doesn’t capture Bakhmut in time for Putin’s “victory concert” on the 22nd, he’s going to find himself with a sudden case of window cancer.

This interview seems to contain dated information
Only one road is “ open” and that under Russian artillery
Announced by Prigozhin yesterday

However Wagner is now in the process of taking Chasiv Yar, which is the destination of the last real road out, so….

Wagner does reserve the right to make the definitive announcement because they are on the ground. Prigozhin is irritated by armchair warriors making early calls

I hope the Ukraine loses and its territory split amongst all of its neighboring countries. The Ukrainians were in on the coup against President Trump. The first impeachment was driven by President Trump's call to Zelensky and Ukrainian-born "whistle-blower" Col. Vindman was the impetus. Col. Vindman was offered the high position of Defense Minister of Ukraine twice by the Ukraine - why?. The coup against President Trump led us into the Ukraine War and the death of hundreds of thousands of people and the impoverishment of America. We are led by traitors and snakes.

Vindman, 44, explained during his impeachment testimony that he had been offered the position three times but declined the position because of his loyalty to the United States. The lieutenant colonel was born in Ukraine, but his family immigrated to the U.S. when he was a toddler.

Vindman claimed he did not know why he was offered the high ranking position of defense minister.

And, amazingly, after President Trump was only out of office a little over a year we were at war with Russia at the behest of the Ukraine.

This speaks to what you are saying as well.

FROM BRITISH DEFENSE MINISTRY: On 09 February 2023, Wagner Group head Yevgeny Prigozhin stated that Wagner had halted its prisoner recruitment scheme.

Data from the Russian Federal Penal Service had already suggested a drop-off in the rate of prisoner recruitment since December 2022. News of the harsh realities of Wagner service in Ukraine has probably filtered through to inmates and reduced the number of volunteers

A key factor in the termination of the scheme is likely increasingly direct rivalry between the Russian Ministry of Defense and Wagner. The regular Russian military has likely now also deployed the vast majority of the reservists called up under ‘partial mobilisation’.

The Russian leadership faces the difficult choice of either continuing to deplete its forces, scale back objectives, or conduct a further form of mobilisation.

The Ukrainian Army has not defeated the Russians in a set piece battle since the start of Russia’s Special Military Operation. Urkaine, with the full help of NATO, was unable to mount an offensive to rescue its trapped forces in Mariupol. A similar catastrophe for Ukraine is unfolding right now in Donetsk along the defense line that stretches from Bakhmut to Seversk in the north.

###

They ignore Russia’s unequaled natural resources (which gives it self-suffiency not enjoyed by any of the other major powers); its robust, technologically sophisticated industrial base (Russia produces viable space rockets, the United States does not); and its deeply rooted sense of national identity. They also do not grasp the devastating tactics the Russians are methodically executing on the battlefield — the Ukrainian Army and equipment are being mauled and the West has emptied its military stores and is in no condition to provide replacements any time soon.

You wish misery and mass murder on 40 million people because you are butt hurt over American politics?

Conservatism without a moral core is dead as a political movement. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.

Ukraine has had the “full help of NATO”? LMAO. No, they’re getting our old military surplus junk and some intel. They are using that to cut the fake Russian army into little pieces.

Looks like Prigozhin's windown cancer diagnosis in on the horizon. Will it happen before Putin's "victory concert" on the 22nd?

Why, yes I do. The Ukrainians chose to involve themselves in our politics and they are already paying a very heavy price for their stupidity.
