Russia Suffering Highest Daily Casualty Rate Since First Week Of Ukraine War, Says UK

Russia is suffering its highest daily casualty rate in Ukraine since the start of the war, according to UK officials.

Vladimir Putin’s forces are losing 824 troops a day as the first anniversary of the start of the conflict approaches, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) believes.

In the first week of the war, Moscow was suffering an average of 1,140 casualties a day, figures compiled by the general staff of the Ukraine army suggested.

That dropped to 173 a day last July, but has been climbing steadily since then.

In their latest intelligence update on the war, the MoD said: “Over the past two weeks, Russia has likely suffered its highest rate of casualties since the first week of the invasion of Ukraine.

“The Ukrainian general staff release daily statistics on Russian casualties. Although defence intelligence cannot verify Ukraine’s methodology, the trends the data illustrate are likely accurate.

“The mean average for the last seven days was 824 casualties per day, over four times the rate reported over June-July 2022. Ukraine also continues to suffer a high attrition rate.

“The uptick in Russian casualties is likely due to a range of factors including lack of trained personnel, coordination, and resources across the front – this is exemplified in Vuhledar and Bakhmut.”

According to the excerpt: Ukraine also continues to suffer a high attrition rate.

That said, what were the kill ratios in Vietnam? Russia vs. Nazi Germany? Afghanistan (both)? Custer's last stand? Korea?

If I pull a very high number out of the air, say, 500 Ukies killed per day, it will takes Russia 2000 days to kill 1 million Ukrainians.** Given their current mind set*, I think Ukraine would fight on even after that, if they have weapons.

*Patrick Henry and / or "defending our land", you know.

**A horrific number.*** But, they lost many more in the Holodomor, and a much higher % of women and children then, too. With a proper, uh, "program", recovery in a generation is practical.

Vuhledar looks like a real fuster cluck for the Russians.

***Can the Russian leadership sustain that same number, in these circumstances?

Then why do the Ukrainians keep pestering America for more weapons, tanks, etc. if they’re winning so handily?

There is a saying - America is willing to fight Russia down to the last Ukrainian.

Right America is forcing Ukraine to fight. Idiocy. Maybe they value the idea of freedoms more than people like you.

“and the only ones who say that are Russian shills”

You’re all insults to anyone who wants to present the other side of the equation. Argue your case from logic and rationality and not from a bundle of emotions and hyperbole and you’ll do better in the debates on the Russian/Ukranian war.

Ukraine probably knows what the death toll on its side is, far more than Russia. There’s no point in them advertising the numbers though.

Russia said all the way through the 14-19 period that it wasn’t keeping its own count of casualties in Ukraine (because officially “we’re not there”; it relied entirely on the OCSE, UN, Ukrainian and DPR figures - until those figures, even when in complete alignment to each other, didn’t fit the Kremlin narrative..

For example, here’s the DNR’s last monthly report from the region, before the Special Military Operation.

https://eng.ombudsman-dnr.ru/the-overview-of-the-current-social-and-humanitarian-situation-in-the-territory-of-the-donetsk-peoples-republic-as-a-result-of-hostilities-between-22-and-28-january-2022/

Notice how this is an outfit based out of the FSB office building in Donetsk, and it totally contradicts the accusation by the DPR that the Ukraine was still committing ongoing genocide. It posted confirmed casualty numbers from the conflict in that calendar month as low enough to fit on the fingers of a hand that’s had some digits chopped off. And couldn’t find a number higher than 0 for civilian casualties.

So we know that the Feb 22 accusations from the DPR, and repeated by Putin prior to the invasion, were literally made up on the spot. Not one credible source remotely backed those accusations up. Heck, not even the FSB could back those accusations.

It does beg the question why, if these numbers completely contradict Kremlin propaganda, why the site is still live. It exists at the pleasure of the Russian state. At some point, I suspect, Putin or his successors will hang the DPR out to dry and nail them for “lying” to the Kremlin.

Any casualty figures cited by Russia since that tend to align to Ukrainian or other observers’ counts do so only because Russia didn’t bother to count, and used someone elses’ numbers. We know for example that in the first six months, Russia was leaving its own dead on the battlefield or shipping them up to a temporary Boot Hill in Belarus; Ukraine collected the bodies, IDs, and contacted their families in Russia. (Russia complained about this being propaganda).

Russia has made it clear through the public statements of several Duma deputies, military commanders and anchors on Rossyia 1 that they wouldn’t be surprised if the casualties on the Ukraine side end up north of 2 million before the end of hostilities. One Rossyia1 programme discussing the “what to do with Ukraine” publication in a Kremlin-approved Moscow newspaper settled on a casualty range of between 5 and 15 percent of the entire population of Ukraine EVEN IF Ukraine surrendered entirely to a Putin-backed regime change. (For those who want to do the math on that, 5% of 44 million is 2.2 million; 15% is 6.6 million).

When your nation’s enemy is consistently pitching a level of casualties comparable to the number of Jews killed or injured during the Holocaust, you really aren’t going to be put off by them telling you they’ve only killed 220,000 so far. That’s why Ukraine doesn’t post its casualty numbers - even if they did, it wouldn’t make any difference to the existential nature of their fight against Russia.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - when Russia can confidently talk about having already inflicted 1.1 million casualties on the Ukraine side, and Ukraine’s own numbers confirm it, THAT might be when Ukraine starts thinking seriously about capitulation - but they’ll make darned sure the Russians will have to pay a very high price to take it that far.

Why not post an article about the Ukraine conflict penned by the Lord Field Marshall of The Grand Duchy of Fenwick?

The Army of Fenwick is just as relevant as the UK in 2023.

Makes you wonder how bad it is then for Ukrainians since Russian troops are still reportedly advancing and gaining ground. ...The town of Krasnaya Gora, on the northern suburbs of Bakhmut, has been taken by Wagner unit.

Messages from APU wife.

Ukrainian sources report that the settlement of Krasnaya Gora in the north of Bakhmut (Artyomovsk) fell.

The Armed Forces suffered heavy losses.
