CONCRETE LOVE Our Daily Bread July 28, 1998 "Though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:3 The story is told of a child psychologist who spent many hours constructing a new driveway at his home. Just after he smoothed the surface of the freshly poured concrete, his small children chased a ball across the driveway, leaving deep footprints. The man yelled after them with a torrent of angry words. His shocked wife said, "You're a psychologist who's supposed to love children." The fuming man shouted, "I love children in the abstract, not in the concrete!"
I chuckled at the alleged incident and groaned at the play on words, but the story rang true for me. While I agree in principle with the concept of self-giving love, I find myself failing to express it to the people I live and work with each day. First Corinthians 13 describes Christian love in terms of its tangible expression: "Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil" (vv.4-5). As a theory, love isn't worth much; as a practice, it is the world's greatest treasure. When footprints are in the driveway, people discover whether our love exists in the abstract or in the concrete. -- DCM "Follow with reverent steps the great example of Him whose holy work was doing good: so shall the wide earth seem out Father's temple, each loving life a psalm of gratitude. Love is an active verb!

Good morning, ML...((HUGS))...a Blessed Lord’s Day and Shavua Tov to you and yours.
Hope things have settled down in your neighborhood.
I finally was able to have 2 dump truck loads of snow hauled off yesterday. And it’s snowing again. So the guys who hauled it away will now have someplace to put my snow the next time they plow my driveway.

I’m so sorry you are having so much snow.
But I suppose snow falling out of the sky in Alaska is normal, and less dangerous than Chinese Spy Balloons.

To: All
Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.
Psalm 130:7 & 8

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Howdy, Kathy.
I know you were thrilled to wake up to more snow falling ..... NOT!! Not sure what it’s doing at your house at the moment but it’s coming down like gangbusters at the airports and has been for a while. Just crazy up there lately.
I hope you’re feeling better today after a long night’s sleep.

Better I shovel snow right now than you. I just have to push it off the deck...no lifting.

Thrilled...it comes down heavy and then not so heavy. Right now it’s steady, but not huge flakes. I only shoveled about an inch a couple hours ago.

Information and Evidence
These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God.
John 20:31 When Doris Kearns Goodwin decided to write a book about Abraham Lincoln, the fact that some fourteen thousand books had already been written about America’s sixteenth president intimidated her. What could be left to say about this beloved leader? Undeterred, Goodwin’s work resulted in
A Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. Her fresh insights on Lincoln’s leadership style became a top-rated and top-reviewed book.
The apostle John faced a different challenge as he wrote his account of the ministry and passion of Jesus. The final verse of John’s gospel says, “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written” (John 21:25). John had more material than he could possibly use!
So John’s strategy was to focus on only a few selected miracles (signs) that supported Jesus’ “I am” claims throughout his account. Yet behind this strategy was this eternal purpose: “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (v. 31). Out of the mountains of evidence, John provided plenty of reasons to believe in Jesus. Who can you tell about Him today?
Reflect & Pray
How do you view the biblical evidence for Jesus and His claims? What does it mean for you to believe in Him?
Heavenly Father, please strengthen my faith with solid evidence so that I may truly live for Jesus.
Learn how to better defend your faith.
