I believe that the daycare provider may not have known. Supposedly Argentinians do include blackface children in kids' plays, but not in a negative way—it's just a tradition. In Christian churches around the world over the millennia, a blackface player would portray Caspar, one of the three Wise Men. In Belgium, "Zwarte Piet" is a traditional blackface character portrayed at Christmas to help Santa distribute toys to kids.
Sounds like this indignant mother is the one who didn't know better about other cultures. Perhaps she could have had a "teachable moment" with the provider instead of getting outraged.

What passes for drag queens these days is far worse a mockery of women than blackface is of blacks.
The images I have seen of drag queens doing story time at the library are not simply men dressing as women, but they are downright satanic. They represent demons more than women, because no real woman dresses like those freaks.
