This week, House Republicans blocked a law that would have allowed non-citizens to vote in municipal elections in Washington, DC.
This is a reminder of how important the midterm elections are. If the Novermber elections had only gone a little bit differently, this law would have passed.
More than 150 Democrats voted for this measure.
The Federalist reported:
House Republicans Block DC Law That Would Allow Illegal Residents To Vote
In a win for election integrity, the House of Representatives voted to overturn a D.C. law that would give noncitizens a right to vote in municipal elections Thursday.
“I applaud the House for acting to ensure that foreign spies and illegal immigrants are not voting in the nation’s capital,” Jason Snead, executive director of Honest Elections Project Action (HEPA), said in a statement regarding the vote. “Thanks to a Constitutional right and since the District is not a state, the House acted as it should have and has moved to stop this extreme and antidemocratic measure.”
According to the Constitution, Congress has the ability to block laws passed in the District. The GOP-led House voted 260-173 to overturn the new law, with 42 Democrats joining Republicans. For the law to be overturned, it must also be voted against in the Democratic-led Senate and signed by the President. While President Biden has said he opposes the law, he has not stated whether or not he will veto it.
The D.C. Council passed D.C. Bill 24.300 last year, which lowered the qualifications for voting in D.C.’s municipal elections to just one month of residency in the District, discarding the previous U.S. citizenship or legal immigration status requirement. The law goes into effect starting in 2024. This is directly connected to what’s happening at the border.

P
Just the beginning. Imagine if they ever get statehood and two senators!
Not exactly.
According to the Constitution, there shouldn't BE any "laws being passed in the District".
"The Congress shall have power...To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of Government of the United States"
Google "in all cases whatsoever" to learn what it meant to the Founding generation, for they were very, very familiar with that phrase and they know EXACTLY what it meant.
In fact, they fought a revolution over it.
Natural born citizens are just second class now. Wait until the Democrats try to deny entitlements to everyone who doesn’t vote Democrat. (Note the absence of the /s notation.)
Those darn white supremacists!
>>For the law to be overturned, it must also be voted against in the Democratic-led Senate and signed by the President.
So, they didn’t actually “block” anything.....
Barry Hussain Obama who said he would fundamentally change our nation.
Let’s count the ways..
5+ million illegals now in my US who were somewhere else and belong somewhere else.
Americans on hard times sleep on street.. Illegals given hotel rooms.
You want to know how to divide Americans? How to anger we the people?
You name it, Biden has/is doing it.
The Dems.. The left.. Their trademark is.. They are Godless.. Hateful and accuse everyone else.. It’s surely not them!

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument
Even if so-called House "MAGA Republicans" were still minority, all that they needed to do to effectively exercise majority power to kill the unconstitutional (imo) bill giving DC illegals the power to vote is to publicly point out the following excerpt from the post-Civil War congressional record.
Although the excerpt was intended for renegade states giving illegals the power to vote to try to destabilize the Union by effectively nullifying the Constitution's "uniform Rule of Naturalization Clause," it applies as well (imo) to the Democratic-pirated federal government trying to use illegals to destroy the constitutional republic imo.
"Article I, Section 8, Clause 4: To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization [emphasis added], and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;"
" If the States can admit to the elective franchise those who are not citizens, thereby neutralizing the votes of citizens, not only the Federal power of naturalization becomes a nullity, but" * * * * "a minority of citizens by the aid of aliens may control the government of the States, and through the States the government of the Union [emphases added]." —Appendix to the Congressional Globe, 1868. (See near middle of 1st column.)
" Whatever difference there may be as to what other rights appertain to a citizen, all must agree that he has the right to petition and also to claim the Protection of the Government. These belong to him as a member the body politic, and the possession of them is what separates citizens of the lowest condition from aliens and slaves. To suppose that a State can make an alien a citizen or confer on him the right of voting would involve the absurdity of giving him the direct and immediate control of the action of the General Government, from which he can claim no protection and to which he has no right to present a petition [emphasis added]." —Appendix to the Congressional Globe, 1868. (See bottom half of 1st column.)
What is your threshold of “pain” for peacefully stopping unconstitutionally big state and federal governments patriots?
The inevitable remedy for ongoing, corrupt post-17A ratification political party treason (imo)...
All MAGA patriots need to wake up their RINO federal and state lawmakers by making the following clear to them.
If they don’t publicly support either a resolution, or a Constitutional Convention, to effectively "secede" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government by amending the Constitution to repeal the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A), doing so before the primary elections in 2024, that YOU will primary them.
If the proposed amendment was limited strictly to repealing 16&17A, relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed before ratification of the amendment imo.
With 16&17A out of the way, my hope is that Trump 47 becomes the FIRST president of a truly constitutionally limited power federal government.
In the meanwhile, I'm not holding my breath for significant MAGA legislation to appear in the first 100 days of new term for what may still prove to be another RINO-controlled House.
Trump will hopefully do another round of primarying RINOs for 2024 elections.
Not exactly.
A question that probably dare not be asked, “Has the District been better run since ‘Home Rule’ was granted in 1973?”
This “law” was not passed by Congress (the SOLE body with authority to pass laws for DC), it was passed by the phony “DC government”, which cannot pass laws (constitutionally) about anything.
1973. Well, ya’ know Civil Rights, negroes and all that.
Well, that’s a good step. I’m still skeptical of McCarthy.
