Generally speaking, in my opinion NATO needs to buck up and show preparation for war and strength. That also means we back off the war in Ukraine somewhat. A destabilized Russia (and it’s getting more every day) might be the end of too many of us.

Why the heck can’t we work for a peace settlement or at least a cease fire? This is not some proxy war like Vietnam but a direct conflict with the Russian superpower and escalation could bring a nuclear war. It is ironic that liberal kids and grandkids of the Vietnam protesters who chanted “give peace a chance” are now warmongers.

This does not surprise me one iota. My high school, Castro Valley HS, is about 15 miles south of Berkeley. It was woke before woke was even dreamed of. The most famous alumnus is likely Rachel Maddow.

50 years ago, I was awarded a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship. The reaction campus wide, was one of complete revulsion towards me. In addition to colorful adjectives thrown my way, there were teachers that told me to my face they were "disappointed" in my decision. The only teacher who supported me was my calculus teacher, a former Jesuit priest who taught at Marquette. He was thrilled that I was going to Gonzaga.

I've never been back, will never attend a reunion. Why would I travel to California for a 6 hour event?

I understand there's a military "Page of Honor" for those who served in the military. Big effin' deal.

Because the only thing to negotiate is how much the invaders get to take of the choice parts of Ukraine after having destroyed the cities and homes and men of Ukraine.

In this case ‘negotiate’ is merely a euphemism for ‘surrender already, quit resisting’.
