Blame Canada: Migrants unhappy it is so cold there, some turning back to New York

Welp. I guess no one told the illegal aliens bused from New York City to the Canadian border that it’s very cold there and snowy, too. It turns out that Latin Americans don’t much care for winter weather, Canadian-style.

It’s a story that sounds like it’s written for the Babylon Bee. Illegal migrants arriving in NYC are offered free bus tickets to the Canadian border if they choose to seek asylum in the country to the north. Many migrants are taking advantage of the offer because of crime, homelessness, and drugs that are making life in that city intolerable for them. Mayor Adams was frustrated that many single male migrants protested after being told they would be transferred to a shelter set up for them in Brooklyn instead of continuing to live in a high-dollar hotel in Manhattan. So, National Guard troops now meet migrants as they arrive in the city and let them know about their travel options.

Migrants who want to try their luck with asylum in Canada take a bus up to the border. City Hall officials call it a ‘re-ticketing’ plan to help migrants work their way to Canada. Near the border, the migrants get a ride to a Canadian entry point. Easy, peasy. Problems are arising, though, because Mayor Adams didn’t give a heads-up to Canadian officials that the migrants are coming. That is the same thing he complains about border state governors doing to him when migrant buses arrive in New York. The buses take them to Plattsburgh where a group called Plattsburgh Cares gives them information about taking a short taxi ride to Roxham Road and seeking asylum in Canada. Roxham Road isn’t an official border crossing site and that is a problem for Canadian immigration officials. This area sees tens of thousands of migrants illegally crossing every year. Nearly 4,700 people entered Canada through the site last December alone.

Some migrants say they are seeking a quieter, safer life in Canada instead of staying in NYC. Once they arrive in Canada, though, a harsh reality awaits them. It’s cold there. And there can be lots of snow there, too. The natives of Latin America aren’t fans of the frigid weather and some are turning back to the United States.

However, just days after reports surfaced that some of the travelers were fleeing New York because of ‘drugs’ and homelessness, several are having second thoughts – with some outright refusing the offer because the country has ‘lots of snow.’

Speaking to the CBC, Ilze Thielmann, the director of a New York nonprofit that has already helped transport the migrants from New York to Montreal, attempted to explain the phenomenon, saying many had arrived expecting better access to jobs and health care, while others were simply turned off by the frigid conditions.

‘They think that there are all these jobs up there,’ Thielmann, 56, told the Canadian broadcaster Tuesday of the realities currently being thrust on the foreigners, many of whom have been in the US for the better part of a year.

She added that instead of braving the rest of the Canadian winter – set to persist for no more than another month – migrants, already fed-up with conditions, are opting to turn tail back to New York City.

‘They think they’re going to be able to get asylum very easily up there, and that’s just not the case.’

When leaders like Pierre Trudeau and Joe Biden virtue-signal about sanctuary cities and states welcoming illegal migrants, the migrants are listening. They expect to sashay into the United States and receive all the taxpayer-funded benefits available to make their lives comfortable. There are expectations. Now, even cold weather is the reason for complaints. You can’t make this stuff up.

The single male migrants probably would like to remain in a Manhattan hotel room where taxpayers are charged up to $450 per night to provide for them instead of a large migrant shelter. Who wouldn’t? It’s the sense of entitlement that is so irritating. Joe Biden’s blanket invitation to asylum-seekers has created a humanitarian crisis with migrants expecting jobs and a good life in America without going through proper channels. Immigrant activists are helping the migrants demand better conditions and benefits.

The kicker is that most illegal aliens don’t qualify for asylum as the laws are now. Coming to America for good jobs and better housing is not a reason to grant asylum. In Biden’s America, that doesn’t matter. Just come and get what you can, is the message he sends as the border remains porous. Now we have illegal aliens who complain about the weather. Unreal.

set to persist for no more than another month –

How delusional is this writer? I am well south of Montreal, less than 300 miles from the west coast, and our last frost isn't until LATE May.

New job: shoveling snow in Buffalo, NY.

Officially, 101.6 inches of snow has fallen at the Buffalo Airport since Nov. 1.

Plan B: Can’t we just sit at home, drink booze and smoke dope and watch TV and play video games all day while you Americans work to pay taxes to support us? We are migrants, after all.

Now we have illegal aliens who complain about the weather.

If they just wait a few years, there will be palm trees in Montreal.

If the migrants don’t like the Canadian winter, I can’t wait to see their reaction to the Canadian Spring, as defined in this article.

“Spring” in March means maple syrup season—a time when one can more often than not depend on the temperatures to be above freezing for some part of the day but below freezing for some part of the night, which is what is necessary to get the sap flowing and keep the sap flowing.

For most of this time, the accumulated snow dimities, although sometime it accumulates.

If by “spring” one means that the snow is gone to the extent that one can see fields and if one is a flower one might start to grow that happens in April, for the most part. If one means “snow is all gone” that is mostly a May phenomena, and June frosts are by no means unheard of.

Psychology, if one is from a place that never sees snow, one might think that a huge accumulation of snow from snow ploughing that is still present along with temperatures lower than one ever sees back home, make it winter through June.

Send ‘em back south.

We can only hope... Sadly that snow is sill on top of Mount Kilimanjaro, Al Gore's harbinger of global warming... According to Al it was supposed to be melted by 2016... And we're still waiting.

The Snows of Kilimanjaro Could Be Gone by 2022
By Eliza Strickland
Nov 3, 2009 5:27 PM (YES— WRITTEN 2009)

The glaciers that shine at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, could vanish entirely within 15 years, according to a somber new report. Says glaciologist Lonnie Thompson:

“Of the ice cover present in 1912 ... 85% has disappeared and 26% of that present in 2000 is now gone” [USA Today]

. The mountaintop glaciers are both shrinking around the edges and growing thinner, Thompson’s team found. If the current rate of ice loss continues, the mountain could be ice free as early as 2022. Thompson says his team has fresh evidence that global warming is to blame. As similar changes are occurring on other mountains in Africa, South America, and in the Himalayas, Thompson says that global climate change, not local weather effects, must be responsible for the receding ice.

“The fact that so many glaciers throughout the tropics and subtropics are showing similar responses suggests an underlying common cause,” Thompson said [AP].

For the study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the researchers used maps, aerial photographs, and satellite images to track the ice’s retreat over the last century, and also looked at data from instruments implanted in the glaciers in 2000. Some previous researchers have argued that Kilimanjaro’s glaciers are disappearing because of what they viewed as local factors, namely less snowfall and more sublimation, which turns ice directly into water vapor. But Thompson found that higher temperatures are melting the ice, and he also argues that

the drier and less cloudy conditions leading to sublimation on Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro are part of a suite of changes driven by global warming. “You change the temperature profile of this planet, you are going to change precipitation and cloudiness and humidity and temperature,” he said. “Those are all part of climate change. And so to say that that Kilimanjaro is not responding to global climate change is untrue” [National Geographic News].

If the glaciers disappear entirely, it will make an anachronism of a great piece of literature.

The “snows of Kilimanjaro” were made famous in the Ernest Hemingway short story of that name in 1938, in which the main character notices “as wide as all the world, great, high and unbelievably white in the sun, was the square top of Kilimanjaro” [USA Today].
