Police are searching for a Texas mother who abandoned her 12-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son for two months last year.
An arrest warrant has been issued by the Roman Forest Police Department for mother Raven Yates, who is charged with two counts of abandoning/endangering a child without the intent to return, the department said.
Police said they received a phone call from the concerned father of the 12-year-old on Nov. 14 who reported that the two children had been home alone since Sept. 28.
During their weeks alone, the siblings allegedly had limited access to food or medicine.
The father, who lived and worked in California, immediately flew to Texas, police said. He told law enforcement that Yates had been spotted in Mobile, Alabama without the children by his former mother-in-law, police told ABC News. *** There was no food on the shelves or in the fridge — but the kids appeared healthy.
“I guess the 12-year-old was very resourceful. But she shouldn’t have had to do that,” Carlisle said.
The children were not registered in school, police said. ***

Are we going to cuddle kids forever, like snowflakes? By the time someone is a toddler they should be able to take care of themselves and support themselves.
You have a problem with her palor?
FTTW
The silver lining to this otherwise terrible situation.
I say we terminate the mother's parental rights, get a GiveSendGo started, and put the 12-year-old in charge.
Yes, and an online education so publik skool doesn’t turn into a clone of her mother.
Perfect.
And a shotgun. She needs something to protect herself and her little brother. :)
Sheesh- you’d think the kids were defenseless or something-
i had a full time job a 3- took care of myself most of the time too- it was tough work messing up the house day in and day out- pulling things off the tables, spilling my soup everywhere- i dis all this by myself and didnt’ need parents aroudn to help me either- i was almost entirely independent at 3-
When they get a little older the kids can have the tattoo place put “mom” and a heart shaped bouquet of roses on their arms.
Nothing like a mom.
My mother was a psychologically abusive narcissistic man hating alcoholic. The minister at her funeral said “And all of you——all of you——say only good things about her today. Her battles with the world are over now.”
Sorry to hear that, FRiend.
My sympathies, frank ballenger. If it’s any comfort, a teetotaling mom can also check most of those boxes. Just substitute rage and/or drama for alcohol.
The good news is, you survived, with your belief in our God intact. Good on ya!
Me to the minister: "Butt the F out!"

Surprise...surprise...surprise...
The trouble with carrying a grudge is the damn thing gets heavier and heavier and interferes with enjoying life.
Best to just acknowledge the issues and do one’s best to get on with your own life.
I agree!
Seems to be the best way to do that would be to first openly state the facts of the given case, to allow any other witnesses to come forward to present their side of the matter, to adjudicate everything as fairly as possible, and then to make a final assessment.
Some pastor trying to "hush things up" and insisting that one should "let bygones be bygones" (read: "Swallow up your pain and grief, and never speak of it again!") is NOT contributing to the healing process.
Regards,
I care about my keeedz
I don't think either of these little moochers had a full-time job.
