DeSantis Preps 2024 Bid Behind Scenes While Waiting to Declare

Governor Ron DeSantis is actively preparing a run for president in 2024, even as he delays a formal announcement to keep Republican voters’ attention on his aggressively conservative record in Florida, according to people familiar with the plans.

Behind the scenes, DeSantis and his tight-knit team of advisers are interviewing national consultants to work on a presidential campaign. A retreat for roughly 150 donors, GOP leaders and lawmakers is planned for the final weekend in February at a hotel in Palm Beach, where DeSantis will tout his record as governor.

Aides are speaking to and vetting operatives in early states such as Iowa, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and South Carolina, who could oversee on-the-ground operations and ensure the campaign meets every requirement to qualify for the primaries, and his allies are starting to stand up a super-PAC to support his nascent candidacy, according to two people briefed on the plans.

Here we go again.

Okay my FRiends,

We are all on the same team, we are Conservatives.

We have the same ultimate goal, the WH in 2024.

Our only quibble is ... who will be our quarterback.

I have no "bromance" with any contender. Neither should any of us.

Speeches are good things. Debates are good things. Primaries are good things.

Two books that are on my reading list are...

1. The courage to be free, by Ron DeSantis, and...

2. Never Give an Inch: Fighting for the America I Love, by Mike Pompeo. (I have it, I just need to finish D-Day by Steven Ambrose, almost there.)

My point?

I have much to learn before I cast my 2024 primary vote. Currently I'm inclined toward DeSantis. That could change, we have some interesting times ahead of us. Let's pick the Conservative candidate with the best chance of winning the general. I do not know who this is, we have over a year to sort this out. We have options and alternatives. (DeSantis, Pompeo, Trump, ?)

It won't be settled here on FR. Our Nom will be the result of the long year+ ahead of us.

We are all on the same team, we are in the process of selecting our quarterback. I'll vote (early) for whomever wins the Nom.

>> I know its tempting to live in a fantasy world

Don’t direct that at me. You’re the one that’s reshaping the historical truth that Trump dominated 2016 & 2020.

DeSantis is someone I voted twice in FL
If he runs in 2024, he will divide MAGA Republicans. Many will stay home on election day, including me. Plus Trump will attack him similar to Jeb in 2016. Those derogatory names will stick with DeSantis for ever. That seriously ruins his chances in 2028.

My guess is Trump will win nomination in 2024, will lose to the Democrat opponent. By 2028, country will be so disgusted , similar to after 8 years of Obama, that someone like DeDantis can win with much better chance.

You will sit out both the primary and general?

You see and comment on countless stories of kids getting their genitals hacked off and then believe this is the sort of world that a guy like Trump is going to win elections by massive landslides?

If he waited until 2028 he would have been a shoo-in. He will lose to Trump in 2024 and that will be the end of his presidential aspirations.

I will vote for Trump in primary. I will stay home in general only because after brawl with Trump in primaries, DeSantis has no chance to win in general.

DeDantis is much better politician than Trump will ever be. However Trump is the first politician in my 62 years in USA as an adult, who unabashedly pushed AMERICA FIRST. No other republican ever did that. There was no unnecessary foreign wars during Trump’s 4 years. For that alone, I will abstain in 2024 general if Trump is not the nominee. Trump had earned my loyalty for 2024.

“Pretty tough to find a worse news source than Yahoo”

Specifically, what is wrong with this article?

Good logic. I will stay home if Trump wins the primary because Trump has no chance to win in general.

I read this and it seems Yahoo very much admires DeSantis. Quite a change compared to how the lying deep state press attacked Trump from day one. But this is such a fine oiled machine...Most interesting.

Behind the scenes, DeSantis and his tight-knit team of advisers are interviewing national consultants to work on a presidential campaign.
