FLORIDA VS. NEW YORK
Powerline ^ | February 10,2023 | BY JOHN HINDERAKER

Posted on 02/10/2023 6:26:43 PM PST by Hojczyk

As states increasingly segregate into red and blue, California, New York, Texas and Florida are the heavyweight contenders. (Although, don’t forget poor Illinois.) A year ago I had the good fortune to hear Governor Ron DeSantis give a speech to a Minnesota group in Naples, Florida. DeSantis said something that I thought couldn’t possibly be correct: that Florida has more people than New York, with a state budget only half as large. Afterward, I looked it up, and it was true. No wonder DeSantis romped to an overwhelming re-election!

Yesterday the Wall Street Journal editorial board compared “New York vs. Florida, by the Numbers.” The comparison tells us pretty much everything we need to know about the relative merit of conservative and left-wing governance:

Take a look at the nearby chart comparing some key indicators of governance in a pair of states that not long ago were about the same size—New York and Florida. As recently as 2013 the two states had similar populations, but so many people have moved to the Sunshine State that it’s now roughly 2.6 million people larger.

Here are the numbers. Read them and weep, if you are a liberal. Click to enlarge:

We see the same thing across the country. Red states are succeeding, blue states are failing. What is hard to understand is why so many blue state liberals don’t understand that their states are dying. Politicians, I get: decline is always a relatively slow process, so they calculate that they will be gone before their states finally circle the drain. But what about the people who live in blue states, who don’t intend to flee to more successful locations, and who will be left holding the bag? I can only assume that they are not familiar with the data.

Many people stuck in these blue states are very well-informed of this data, but familial, financial or personal circumstances may be the reason they have not fled the state of New York yet.

Enough. Florida is being destroyed via migration. Old florida is gone, the rest will be destroyed by yankees and other out of staters.

I figure Florida is basically a magenta state on average: large pockets of blue in a mostly red base. However, DeSantis attracted numerous independents and even some Democrats by going after wokery and grooming (Disney). Thus, he won a resounding victory in the election, and would have done so, even if the Dumb-O-Crats had cheated massively. JMO.

I’m a “Yankee” from Maryland*, and I voted straight GOP down here in Florida in 2022. In fact, I intend to stay in Florida, so I’m a “Damned Yankee.” So what? I’m not bringing Maryland down here.

*Technically, Maryland is a southern state, but basically is Yankee, since it’s more or less run by Communists.

I think DeSantis got rid of the head vote cheaters in Broward and Palm Beach counties as soon as he took office the first time. He knew precisely where the fraud was and how to fix it. Florida is mostly vote clean now.

You're completely correct - which is why they pulled the fake ballot money and spent it elsewhere.

I'll be curious to see what they'll do in 2024 if they need Florida.

Not sure they even need Florida OR Ohio this "election" cycle.

Maybe not. There are plenty of cheat-y states they can rely on. Pennsylvania, for example.

Sales tax here in Escambia County (FL) is a little higher than in Maryland, but there is no income tax and property taxes are significantly lower. What’s not to like?

When people think of NY, they think of the city. The radical liberal city.

Most don’t know that NY has large swaths of forest and farmland. And lots of Conservative folks who are trapped.

It’s a phenomenal place. You can be spending your day on a beach looking at the Atlantic Ocean and that night be in the mountains. Sadly, liberals in a handful of cities got control and aren’t letting go.

What if Democrat voter fraud prevents those people from voting their way out of the dumpster fire?

I suspect it went this way with the Broward County election head: somebody representing DeSantisw told her that they had enough evidence of cheating to put her in the slam, but since that would cause an ugly dust-up, it would be mutually beneficial for her to resign, so she did.

JMO.

There was plenty of cheating in Florida in 2020.

It helped that he immediately got rid of Palm Beach's Bucher and Broward's Snipes.

That kept it down to a dull roar, and enabled us to protect the state's electoral votes.
