Ukraine’s rocket campaign reliant on U.S. precision targeting, officials say

KYIV, Ukraine — Ukrainian officials said they require coordinates provided or confirmed by the United States and its allies for the vast majority of strikes using its advanced U.S.-provided rocket systems, a previously undisclosed practice that reveals a deeper and more operationally active role for the Pentagon in the war.

The disclosure, confirmed by three senior Ukrainian officials and a senior U.S. official, comes after months of Kyiv’s forces pounding Russian targets — including headquarters, ammunition depots and barracks — on Ukrainian soil with the U.S.-provided High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or HIMARS, and other similar precision-guided weapons such as the M270 multiple-launch rocket system.

One senior Ukrainian official said Ukrainian forces almost never launch the advanced weapons without specific coordinates provided by U.S. military personnel from a base elsewhere in Europe. Ukrainian officials say this process should give Washington confidence about providing Kyiv with longer-range weapons.

So, the US does all the work targeting Russian forces except pressing the button.

Excellent news. No reason to waste expensive ammo needlessly.

You can bet that Americans are sighting these weapons and are serving in every HIMARs crew in Ukraine.

This news is pretty much history, as soon as advanced weaponry was given to Zippy’s crew it was known none of them had any idea how to operate any of it, let alone precision targeting.

A deeper point is this story coming out again is rubbing the Russian’s faces in it, and sooner or later they will get back at NATO for this above and beyond support of a non-NATO member. And it could be with glowing red hot mushrooms.

This is a non-NATO European war, it’s none of our business what these clowns do over there as we have enough problems with our own invasion going totally unchecked, not to mention a greater threat being China.

As far as I am concerned those people in this country that think giving all our arms to Ukraine and sending in troops is a good thing should just go over there themselves. These Zippy lovers should just go to the front lines and do some fighting themselves.

Right, exposing our roll in Ukraine should give us confidence.

This is no “official” on the side of either Ukraine or The United States. He’s saying this for the purpose of removing America’s support roll, not expanding it. He’s no ally of the United States or Ukraine, and probably has no idea what roll the United States is playing in the conflict anyway.

It is evident there is a real intelligence gap in this war.

The Ukrainians have succeeded in several large scale surprise attacks. (Such as the Kharkiv offensive)

The Russians meanwhile get spotted and obliterated each time they try to sneak across a river.

That is probably one of the most useful things we are helping Ukraine with.

NATO planes with intelligence gathering function have been on constant patrol since day 1 of the Russian invasion. There are videos of the racetrack courses flown in several different tracks that cover all of the Russian occupied territories.

NATO means American planes with NATO crews as depivted by videos viewed some time ago

Ukraine has barely been skilled enough to get gas and coal out of the ground. The most backward country in all of Eastern Europe. Its nothing more than a proxy WW3 and we should kiss those folks good bye.

Trump said he would nuke Russia if they invaded Ukraine.

Thank goodness Biden never made that promise.

You didn’t answer the question and did it twice in one post.
It wasn’t likely an error twice.

Are you an American citizen?
