The unanimous vote was useful. I’m surprised some of the Rats didn’t defend the overflight by a fellow socialist republic. As he has done so many times, Xi overplayed his hand again, and it will hopefully prove costly for the CCP dictatorship.

“The new information was collected by high-flying U-2 spy planes that captured detailed imagery of the balloon floating at around 60,000 ft. before the U.S. military shot it out of the sky, while sensors on the planes collected electronic data that emanated from the payload slung underneath the balloon. As a result, the government was able to determine some of the balloon’s capabilities and forensically piece together a picture of past flights over the U.S. and other countries that previously went undetected.”

I haven’t seen this discussed, in what context or under what conditions would the Chinese ballon technology b come relevant?
If the Us and China had a full scale nuclear exchange both sides would have to use or lose their silo based missile. So, China expends all ICBM and is left with nothing in reserve. The US might well keep some submarine based missile in reserve. The US would have the leverage of a second strike, China wouldn’t. US is left with little to no ability to secure it’s airspace and suddenly Chinese balloon technology is very relevant for it’s ability to deliver a flow-on nuclear attack.
