Have you ever been near a real war? Your question seems smart and pertinent and I do empathize with it ... and it certainly is humane ... but in the terrible calculus of an real existential war, it does not matter. Horrible, tragic, heart-wrenching, but sadly true that the badly wounded are out of the game and why waste resources on them you may or may not have? Yes, terrible. But reality.

I joined FR a long time ago and admittedly took months/years off at a time when I was overseas, etc., but has their even been a greater civil war/more toxic dynamic here than the Ukraine/Russia war?
I lost track, is Ukraine beating them back and winning or is Russia’s offensive overpowering Ukraine.

When one side constantly shows dead and prisoners from the other side, its often because they are losing the battle and are depending on propaganda to inspire more people to join their non existent victory. At the end of this month, lets see how much ground Ukraine has lost, and how many troops they have left to fight. I suspect that by the end of the year, Ukraine will be at the proposed borders Russia has claimed. Its too bad that so many people die to cover our corrupt CONgress money laundering, and so many people have been suckered into supporting either side of this war.
