“contribution”

Contribution is even worse there are no refunds of contributions. In any case once the government has it you don't get it back. Many green card workers have tried to get their contribution back when they return to their homeland.

It means Medicare becomes your Primary insurance the other coverage becomes a secondary coverage, believe me Know, it happened to me.

Is there something I need to do?

I don't think you can prevent it, your private insurance will automatically assign your account as secondary. Depending on where you live it may be OK maybe not.

Raising the age makes sense because life expectancy has increased since the 1980’s

77.28 years now
73.7 years in 1980

As medical advances increase our life expectancy, of course changes to the retirement age need to be made. No one is trying to end SS with this change.

The government will never decrease SS for those already on it or near the age. The changes will always be made to those who are currently young and won’t be collecting for many years. So sleep well knowing you’re ok.

F that. It is easy for fat assed office workers to poo poo raising the retirement age. Try auto mechanics, roofing or concrete finishing as a career. You want to do that at age 70?

It won’t crash and burn as long as they can create fiat money. Defaulting on SS is a hoax.

so your saying that even if amazing medical advances are made that extend human life to 200+ years, no change to SS retirement age should be made since some people who physical jobs?

extend human life to 200+ years

When you want to discuss reality, let me know.

It was an extreme example to illustrate the point.

The SS age was originally set higher than average life expectancy, it obviously needs to be adjusted as lifespans increase. The only questions are, how much do lifespans have to increase before we adjust the retirement age, and when such a change would take place for future retirees?

Anyone else notice how every single person who gives any opinion on anything in any news story is now labeled an “expert”?
