Exactly-no mention of what the problem is. A large percentage can be repaired in utero so until the media divulges the whole truth I’m not buying into it.
No, they do mention it. The child had trisomy 18, which is where the 18th chromosome has an extra “leg”. It is pretty much universally fatal, and is not “repairable”. It’s also not something you need to go out of your way to terminate, since it is fatal and nearly always fatal during gestation, there is no reason to get an abortion. Also, as noted above, Florida apparently does not restrict abortion in the case of fatal abnormalities anyway, so the whole thing is theatrics.
And I still have to wonder why, if this pregnancy was so “wanted”, did the mother rush to have it destroyed the minute it became apparent that the baby wasn’t perfect? She was almost certainly going to lose the baby within a month or two anyway, why not enjoy the time she had with her child?
The Dems parading this woman’s choices around seems to me to highlight the Dems’ closet eugenicist streak.
Trisomy 18 cannot be fixed in utero or otherwise.
Ahem, Then, when she was 15 weeks pregnant, results from genetic testing confirmed what an earlier blood test had indicated: Her child had Trisomy 18, a genetic condition that affects how a child’s body develops and grows.
