These officers are in the middle of a police escort, but they’re not guarding a VIP or a shipment of cash. They’re protecting trucks full of avocados. That’s because this stretch of highway in Mexico has become quite dangerous, with criminal activity in pursuit of avocados destined for the U.S.

Doesn’t make sense. Avocados are cheap (comparatively) right now. 49 cents each. Even Costco large ones are about 70 cents each.
