Pompeo: Biden Balloon Response Latest National Security Failure

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the Biden administration's slow response to a suspected Chinese spy balloon flying over the United States is the latest example of failing to do "the simple things to protect the country."

Pompeo, considered a potential contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, appeared on Hugh Hewitt's podcast on Monday and was asked if he had been "amazed at the incompetence" of President Joe Biden's team in dealing with the balloon.

"I am but we've seen this," Pompeo told Hewitt. "This isn't the first demonstration of the inability to do the simple things to protect the country. You call it incompetence — just the absence of a gut instinct that says this is the thing we need to do.

Hewitt asked Pompeo whether, during his time in the Trump administration, he ever had been briefed about a similar incident.

"A balloon traveling at a slow rate over the continental United States the size of a couple of buses is not a minor incursion. That is a serious matter and I am confident every senior leader … political leader in the Trump administration would have known about it if that happened."

During an interview with Fox Business Network on Monday, Republican Rep. Mike Waltz dropped new bombshell information relating to Chinese spy balloons allegedly flown over the United States during former President Donald Trump’s time in office.
Shortly after the spy balloon was shot down over the Atlantic ocean over the weekend, the left-wing media rushed to Joe Biden’s defense, claiming spy balloons flew over the country when Trump was in office and he didn’t do anything about it.
The claims have since been proven to be false and according to Rep. Waltz, the Pentagon refused to tell the president because they were worried his reaction would be too strong.
The Pentagon “thought Trump would be too provocative and too aggressive,” Waltz said.
“My office has been briefed by the office of the Secretary of Defense of the current Pentagon that it happened over Florida, it happened over Texas, and that it’s happened before,” he said during the interview.

Any military official admitting to that should be brought up
on charges, and spend a fairly long term in prison.

That’s not their call to make.

Charges should also be brought against anyone who says this
truly happened if it didn’t.
