A son and mother found shot to death on their Lowcountry property.
News of the deaths of Paul Murdaugh, 22, and Maggie Murdaugh, 52, has led to national headlines.
Not only for the mystery surrounding their murders but for the ties to other death investigations in the area: Stephen Smith in 2015, Gloria Satterfield in 2018 and Mallory Beach in 2019.
1920-2005: For three generations, members of the Murdaugh family serve as the South Carolina 14th circuit solicitor, the top prosecutor representing Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, Allendale and Colleton counties.
July 8, 2015: Stephen Smith, 19, is found dead on Sandy Run Road in Hampton County. No arrest is made.
Feb. 2, 2018: Gloria Satterfield, 57, falls at the Murdaugh home.
For more than two decades, she had served as the family housekeeper and nanny.
Feb. 26, 2018: Satterfield dies. Alex Murdaugh tells Satterfield's sons that he was responsible and plans to sue himself so they are financially taken care of.
The family says they never receive any money.
Feb. 24, 2019: Mallory Beach, 19, goes missing after a boat crash near Parris Island. A 911 call is placed from the scene of the crash.
March 3, 2019: Following a week of searches, a boater discovers Mallory's body in a marsh area.
March 2019: The Beach family files a wrongful death lawsuit against a Beaufort bar, convenience store and two homeowners all of whom served Beach and her friends alcohol the night of the crash.
The lawsuit was later amended to only name "Alex" Murdaugh Sr., “Buster" Murdaugh Jr., and Parker's convenience store.
April 18, 2019: Paul Murdaugh is indicted on charges of boating under the influence causing death and two counts of boating under the influence causing bodily injury.
May 6, 2019: Murdaugh pleads not guilty.

But outside of South Carolina, they are complete strangers. Every place has its old money crowd that think their crap don’t stink...............................
Casey Anthony and Jodi arias were nobody’s even in their own towns. It’s the facts and circumstances of the crime that make it interesting, not necessarily the people involved.
Casey Anthony was a ‘local’ story here. I didn’t pay much attention to the Jody Arias story. I’ll wait for the Lifetime Movie................
Hey, I get it. I totally respect the honored FR tradition of posting in threads just to tell everyone you're not interested in the topic. ;)

Court TV was broadcasting from Fat Jack’s in Walterboro every night last week. They interviewed Jack on the air.
Fat Jack’s is good. My motorcycle club rides there often. Along the back roads to Walterboro, we pass through several little hamlets and cotton fields. Dukes is the BBQ buffet to try while in town.
If I’m ever in the area, I’ll try both places. The food looked good at Fat Jack’s.
“The wife? Might have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

His wife was at their beach house and he asked her to come back. Evidently he told her about his parents not doing well.
Yep I heard that today.
I also heard his mothers caretaker testify that he told her if anyone asked he was at his mother’s house for 30 to 40 minutes.....the caretthen testified he wasn’t there even close to that long.
If I was a juror that would raise my eyebrows.
I also heard the wife had hired a forensic accountant.....suspecting Alex murdaugh was hiding money in prep for a divorce.
It’s a shame she left the beach house that day.
Yep. If they were separating and headed for a divorce.....that sounds like motive to me.
“Death of Murdaugh boat crash victim Mallory Beach in spotlight at double murder trial”
If your getting tired of the trial coverage being interrupted on tv you can find it on YouTube.
Yesterday I watched it on Fox Nation. No commercials there either…
Also the girl who got killed in a boating accident because the murdered son (Paul Murdaugh) was operating the boat while drunk.
I ran across this article.
