Turkey has been hit by a second massive earthquake, hours after an earlier catastrophic quake devastated the region and killed more than 1,700 people.
The 7.8-magnitude night-time tremor, followed hours later by a slightly smaller one, wiped out entire sections of major Turkish cities in a region filled with millions of people who have fled the civil war in Syria and other conflicts.
The later 7.5 magnitude quake struck at 1.24pm (1024 GMT) two-and-a-half miles southeast of the town of Ekinozu and around 60 miles north of the first quake that has wrought devastation across Turkey and Syria.
Hundreds are still trapped under rubble on both sides of the border as a result of the first, and the toll is expected to rise as rescue workers continue to search through mounds of wreckage for families crushed in their sleep.
Orhan Tatar, an official from the Turkish disaster agency, told reporters that the two quakes were independent of each other. He said hundreds of aftershocks were expected after both. Tremors were felt as far away as Greenland.

I suspect God has a good grasp on who is who to Him....regardless of their affiliation or not with Erdogan. However Erdogan only uses people as cannon fodder to get what he wants so I have no concerns regarding his life one way or another.

USGS shows quakes and aftershocks every few minutes, it’s like the whole area is constantly shaking.
I imagine it will be like that for a couple weeks even....two powerful earthquakes like that will surely create a multitude of aftershocks....
I read even Greenland felt it.
I do not believe God will do any smiting for a country playing pure politics.
If God was in the business of smiting a Country for refusing admission to a defense pack, God would have leveled the USA, Canada, the UK, and France/Germany and Rome before dropping to political reasons.
God cares about the soul and the morals, not politics.
I see fatalities are over 5000 now & can easily imagine many more could be found.
The damage zone looks considerably smaller than if such a quake was to let loose on the New Madrid Fault, so, that's something to consider for us in the future, even though our construction is generally better...
The situation after the New Madrid quakes was said to be similar. Earthquake storms are a real thing... :-(
I’m a native Californian, so I’ve been through many quakes, but never had anything like that! I know we’re in for it some day.
