Only a moron or neocon would believe this number.

The BBC estimates that total Russian losses are 20,000 and that includes LPR, DPR and the Wagner group.

The lies the Biden regime, Deep State and their puppets spread here are laughable.

At 10:42, I said, “the Russians have lost 157,000 troops.” I meant to say that the Kiev regime has lost 157,000 troops, according to Douglas Macgregor; the Russians have lost 20,000, according to the BBC.

https://www.moonofalabama.org/2023/02/ukraine-sitrep-us-russia-talks-bakhmut-retreat-laughable-casualty-numbers.html#more

Ten days ago the well informed Col.(ret.) Doug Macgregor put the numbers (video) of dead on the Ukrainian side at 122,000 killed plus 35,000 missed in action (presumed dead). The number of dead Russians (including Wagner forces and Donbas militia) is at 16,000 to 25,000 with 20 to 40,000 additionally wounded. The numbers have since increased with the Ukrainian ones several times those of the Russians.

This sounds like propaganda to me, and here’s why... This is an artillery war in which all sides acknowledge that Russia has an overwhelming advantage in both the number of cannons and launchers and daily rate of fire. Russia has repeatedly withdrawn its forces from unfavorable terrain/conditions and used artillery to patiently and methodically attrit UKR forces. UKR leaders acknowledge this disparity as they beg NATO countries for more artillery, ammunition and tanks. This begging has gotten more shrill by the week, as the web shows videos of UKR soldiers grabbing civilian men of all ages in public and pressing them into service. We’ll learn the truth when this is over, but it’s already apparent that things are not as we’re being told.

I don't believe it. I don't believe much of anything being reported in the MSM about this conflict.

“If Russia lost 200,000 troops entire units would be wiped off their order of battle”

They have been. Units have been merged. Cadre units have been pulled out and rebuilt with reservists and conscripts. Etc.

Macgregor is so well informed that his predictions have consistently failed.

Facts? Proof that units needed to backfill 200,000 losses?

( nevermind…you cannot provide what doesn’t exist)

Given that the biggest lethality of this war is artillery and Russia has 9:1 tube advantage, excellent counterbattery tactics, and is firing tens of thousands of shells daily on ukes mostly holding defense …that makes Uke losses how much much greater than “ 200,000”?

I am actually embarrassed for the quality of “analysis’ put out by my country

Certainly. The VDV 76th Guards Air Assault Division - where is it? In particular the 237th Regiment.

Mr. Kristoffersen estimated that 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or wounded, in line with an estimate Pentagon officials put out in November.

In defense one has bunkers and trenches. On attack one must leave them.

Even in WWI the bulk of the casualties went to the attackers, even when the defenders were subject to prolonged bombardment.
Defensive casualties were disproportionately sustained during counterattacks.

Wait until you have the results of the postwar counts. It may take years though.

The Russians don’t know how many casualties they suffer after forcing human waves towards the Ukrainians and shooting any who return. And they don’t much care.

The Ukrainians live in Ukraine. That’s how they are able to count the dead and wounded Russians. Foreign observers simply avoid being near any of the battles (too dangerous).

"Are they going to tell us their estimate of Ukrainian soldier deaths or do only Russian soldier lives matter?"
In the fog-of-war, truth is the first casualty.

Like its missile attacks, Russian artillery isn’t what it used to be.

“US and Ukrainian officials have offered widely different estimates of Russian fire, with US officials saying the rate has dropped from 20,000 rounds per day to around 5,000 per day on average. Ukraine estimates that the rate has dropped from 60,000 to 20,000 per day.”

“According to Budanov, Russian forces now use about 19,000 to 20,000 artillery rounds per day, in contrast to the daily “quota” of 60,000 shells back in February 2022.”

🇷🇺 have continued to advance into Bakhmut from the Northeast, as well as from their positions in Opytne to the South.

Russia has claimed calling up 100,000 and then 300,000 men.

Is it your belief they did that because they lost only 20,000?

Yes

The mobilization ( mostly veterans but also volunteers) was for an expanded offensive operation. Everytime NATO escalates, the scope of the SMO gets larger. Longer range weapons that attack into Russia, will require them to neutralize more of Ukraine.

It has taken 6 months to train the mobilized men
About 150,000 are ready have not (yet) been deployed in Ukraine
Many may be among the large force now joint exercising with Belarus

But Russian OPSEC is good, and our intel is bad or intentionally used for political messaging…so no one outside Russia knows the next part of the plan

In no way is Russia acting like it has sustained 200,000 dead
The Russian people reportedly 80% back Putin, and some of his dissenters
think he is too soft and going too slow
The slow pace of Russian ops has been multifold, but one major reason was to spare Russian troop casualties. ( others, to spare civilians, to spare infrastructure needed to rebuild, and because a war of attrition strategy was chosen to grind down the UKA. As long as they send troops to the east to die, Russia does not have to move west…..though they are now moving in Donetsk and Luhansk, to secure those populations)

Every military experienced non-politicized source I respect, puts estimated RU losses at about 1:8 compared to the Ukes. So 20-30k range
