Depends on how and what you are counting, I suppose. I think the Cultural Revolution killed something like 50 million. But mostly through famine, maybe. Maybe he just means a million dead by security forces alone.

The Great Leap Forward ‘58-’63 killed that many.

BTW we shouldn’t get too cocky tho - the environmentalists/globalists are slow rolling us into our own version today.
