Residents in Billings, Montana, reported an 'explosion in the sky' after US officials warned of a Chinese spy balloon flying over the region.
Bizarre video of the aftermath shows a trail of smoke in the sky where the balloon was last spotted.
Dolly Moore, who took video of the scene, said she 'saw a jet go by so fast and then explosion in the sky. '

FWIW, if I were president before giving order to shoot down I would want to know as much as we could about the balloon before destroying it. Second, I would want to consult chemical and biological experts on the possible dangers to populace if destroying it released deadly stuff. Third, I would want to know the best destruction method in case it did contain deadly stuff.
Finally someone with common sense. 🎈
Airline contrails don’t cause bright flashes that overwhelm video camera photosensors.
Although anything could be faked. I want to hear unrelated individuals confirm the general scenario and see more videos.
^^^ Not to a music video...to a real link.
I would think that would be a question to ask the person who said that.
Or you could read post #151 for my speculation that would have a reasonable answer inferred in it.
Or the DoD, who presumably planned the mission to shoot the balloon down, asked the Nat Guard to be on alert and gave them directions once they knew the approximate crash site.
Both are probably fake.
Well, supposedly.
At 66k feet and assuming it had biochemical goodies onboard an AIR-2 Genie would be best.
But we don’t have any left in inventory.
YES.
Wonder if it had completed it’s mission and self destructed so as not to fall into US hands.
The bright flash is caused when the camera is moved and it adjusts for a change in light. Not an explosion. It is a contrail of an aircraft moving away from the camera. When you zoom in you can see the vapor coming from two sources, a twin engine contrail.
"Is it not that time, again."
The British did better in 1917 when they shot down so many Zeppelins over England. But they used bullets with Phosphorus to set the hydrogen filled balloons on fire.
With a shortage of helium were these balloons using Hydrogen?
That one’s been beaten to death
I can’t re-watch the video right now but my security cameras (6) don’t show bright flashes when I pan them across the yard with all kinds of different light.
Good exchange by Steve Bannon and Matt Gaetz earlier today:

Their piper cub couldn’t get up that high.😏
A precursor to China’s latest bomber!
