How many USAF and RCAF fighters are based between Alaska and Montana? 100? 200? Is NORAD operative?
Are we defenseless?

It does not appear to have any steering or propulsion mechanism. That does not rule out a deliberate incursion. The U.S. used to, and may still, routinely launch weather and research balloons. This time, they could be on the level. Never know.
