I saw a photo of a balloon in the news a few days ago not sure if it was the one, but it had Chinese lettering all over it. If China was going to pull anything like this, why on earth would it self-identify on the thing in the first place? This stinks to high heaven.
Image if it had an EMP nuke payload?

Since the 1960s we have messed around with modifications to aircraft to hook things. I will admit, they were mostly at low speed and low altitude, but I should think shooting it down would be easier. If the technology is solid state, data could survive a hard landing. I suppose they would want to do it in a remote area but closer to a suitable base to retrieve it from. Unless, of course, we are now a wholey owned subsidiary of China, and don’t want to actually retrieve it.
If it said MAGA on it in big red letters it’d be a smoking hole in the ground by now.
Getting sensitive information from this administration just means sending a cleaning crew to one of Joe’s addresses.
A ballon cannot hover ….
A lot of “news” refers to this as a Chinese spy balloon. What makes them think it is Chinese and a “spy” balloon and not a Canadian weather balloon? I doubt it has a PRC logo on it. I guess if one of our “allies” lost a weather balloon over the USA, they would inform us?
It’s most interesting that they haven’t released any information about how the balloon came to be at that latitude.
