Larry Hogan says he will support Trump if he’s the nominee

Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a moderate Republican who has long been a critic of former President Trump, said he would support Trump if he is the GOP nominee for president in 2024.

Hogan, who is mulling a White House bid of his own, has said he does not think Trump will be the party’s nominee in 2024. But in an interview with conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt on Thursday, Hogan reluctantly conceded that he would support whoever the GOP’s choice for president is in 2024.

“Yeah, I just don’t think [Trump will] be the nominee, but I’ll support the nominee,” Hogan said, after being prodded by Hewitt about his evasiveness on the question.

The admission that he would support Trump in 2024 is a shift for the former Maryland governor, who in 2020 wrote in former President Reagan after concluding he couldn’t support either Trump or President Biden.

Hogan also reiterated that he was “seriously considering” a campaign for president, telling Hewitt he would make a decision on it fairly soon.

Why, after stabbing him in the back, would he want to do that? Mr. “I wrote in Ronald Reagan’s name on my 2020 ballot”??? I don’t believe him.

Probably realized that Trump or DeSantis will be the nominee and he would like to be VP.

That’s a big change for a RINO like Hogan, who had to try to get elected in the lib state of Maryland. Give him credit, but approach with caution.

If he was a popular in MD as he thinks he was then that would have been the smart move. Nobody ever accused Hogan of being smart.

He’s being at least as sincere as the rest of the GOP field in 2016 when everyone but Trump raised their hands, pledging to support the nominee, but Jeb and others reneged.

“Larry Hogan says he will support Trump if he’s the nominee”

FAKE NEWS - it is not permitted for ANY Republican to support Trump in a November election.

He had ample opportunity to run this past November. He didn’t want to because that would’ve meant helping the GOP. He’s not interested in that. He was happy to see an ultra-Marxist take his Governorship over a Conservative, too.

2022-the younger senator was running to get reelected. Incumbency is much harder to beat. This time you don’t know. People will not run unless it’s winnable.

Best barbeque is “Texas Barbeque” in Clinton, MD. It is one of the few things I miss about leaving the DC area. It is near Andrews AFB. On Hogan, I voted for him to be gov of MD when I was a MD resident; but would never vote for him to be president.

I welcome any support.

I also would support Trump as nominee. Regardless. And yes, I’m a detractor.

I wasn’t very pleased with Hogan’s harping on Trump, any more than Trump ragging on other Repubs including now, Desantis. Hogan seemed literally to do it just to please our multidinous Dems, more than really critiquing him. It was a very uncomfortable feeling for me.

He would only pledge this, and mean it, if he believes that the primaries will be rigged.

As I said, he had ample opportunity to run, especially with an (allegedly) high popularity rating (amongst White MD Dems). He didn’t want to, because that would’ve meant helping the GOP get the Senate majority back that was stolen. He’s only interested in helping himself and deluding himself into believing he’s viable Presidential material to “stop Trump.” Less than useless. Sadly, the same mindset of countless RINO Governors over the past decades who were clearly content to have their states “represented” by Communist Demonrats in the Senate.
