Ron DeSantis returns fire against Donald Trump, contends voters’ ‘verdict’ on the Governor is in

'America's Governor' points to the scoreboard in response to the former President's fulminations. Gov. Ron DeSantis is finally on offense against former President Donald Trump, spotlighting the two men’s most recent elections.

Trump, who has attacked DeSantis repeatedly since before the November 2022 election, had gotten away with relative impunity slamming the man he’s dubbed “Ron DeSanctimonious.” The most recent attack was on DeSantis’ handling of COVID-19.

But at a press conference in Bradenton, the Governor said the people of Florida had “rendered” their “verdict” with his re-election last year, offering yet another preview of a potential 2024 GOP Primary slugfest between the former allies.

“What I would just say is this. I roll out of bed, I have people attacking me from all angles. It’s been happening for many, many years,” DeSantis said.

“If you take a crisis situation like COVID, the good thing is that if you’re an elected executive, you have to make all kinds of decisions. You’ve got to steer that ship. And the good thing is, the people are able to render a judgment on that, whether they re-elect you or not.”

“I’m happy to say that, you know, in my case, not only did we win re-election, we won with the highest percentage of the vote that any Republican Governor candidate has in the history of the state of Florida,” DeSantis said, noting his raw vote margin “nearly doubled” the previous record.

“That verdict has been rendered by the people of the state of Florida,” DeSantis added to applause.

“Just what everyone wants, a republican circular firing squad.”

We need to distinguish between a circular firing squad and a healthy competition.

I’ve made clear how I feel. I’ve posted many times, with links.
It’s like dealing with toddlers in here with some folks and you wind-up on repeat until you give up or get gaslit by the folks screaming about gaslighting. I’m not explaining it again, it’s equivalent to hitting myself repeatedly on the noggin, with a rock.
Many, many folks outside forums are looking at DeSantis. Trump made folks curious. Nobody I know is excited about Trump, They’ll vote for him in the general, but not the primaries. He’s too far left.
DeSantis hadn’t announced, nobody has but Trump. I’ll debate my choice when there is a decision to be made.

You should crawl out from under that rock more often.

DeSantis needs to thank Trump every time Trump attacks him considering Trump’s endorsement nearly lost DeSantis the election for governor in 2018 against a radical leftist, self avowed black socialist, Democrat in normally conservative Florida.

His reelection in a landslide in 22 despite Trump’s attacks show that Trumps attacks help him politically but a Trump endorsement is almost a kiss of death due to Trump Fatigue.

The Dims are hoping Trump runs in 24 knowing he is their best get out the vote prospect. Trump’s Jerk Personality motivates millions to vote against him. We saw this in the 22 results where the Dims campaigned that “to vote Republican is a vote for Trump”.

“when a candidate was clearly walking away with the race the voters are going to drop off.”

Polls for DeSantis were 52%, 53%, 54%, 53%, 52%, etc... It was not supposed to be the blowout it became, but nice try.

DeSantis is not a RINO. He has stopped Hysterical Racist Theory from being taught in Fla schools, outlawed sexual grooming of elementary school students in Fla Public schools, broke early from the Bogus Covid hysteria, etc, etc. In short, defied the leftist teachers union and the Corrupt Liberal Media including Leftist Disneyland.

McCain and Romney were RINOS. But DeSantis is not.

Try to keep up.

I was down there right before the election. It appeared that Crist even knew he was getting blown out.

But, honestly I don’t much care. It’s way to early for Trump to be squawking like a rooster.

Talk to me in September.

The headline writer, and the author of the article as well, are trying to create a food fight where there is none. There is only one man running the State of Florida and doing a damn fine job of it.

The RINOs need someone to carry out their plan of derailing Trump in 2024 as the RINOs tried to do in 2016 and did do in 2020.

Trump's endorsements, hires and attacks on DeSantis will destroy his chance in 2024.

No problem. Hopefully in September you will be able to name a candidate better then Trump who can save this country.

I detest neocons, let DeSantis remain in Florida.

You are a baseless name-caller, no different than those who call Trump "Orange-man bad"

Post some FACTS about DeSantis the disqualifies him or GTFO

some Floridians might not take kindly to petty attacks on him.....even by Trump.

They'd best get used to political attacks. And I suspect they are after all the attack ads run against Ron.

McCain and Romney were RINOS. But DeSantis is not.

"BUT JEB! WAS AT HIS INAUGURATION!!!"

Never mind Trump's endorsements of Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Susan Collins, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy...
