When I see this stuff I wonder if he was the author of these documents. That is the only reason why I could imagine retaining this stuff. What other (non espionage) reason could one have?

The retired officer failed to properly store his classified documents in a locked garage.

How can something be Top Secret, if everyone gots them?
The Republican Congress must suponea documents.

When the DOJ/FBI/CIA/Deep State plays either the “current investigation”, or “sources and methods” card, point to the fact these docs are everywhere. If you fail to respond to our questions>off you go to the wood chipper

Private companies will fire anyone moving data on thumb drives.
It has almost no security and is the fastest way to spread network viruses.

This is a case of “everyone does this”.

I expect a flood of others to be outed as having classified documents in their possession. But the FJB family was using them to make a lot of money and sell access.

Nothing happened to hillary and nothing will happen to the bidens.

—”It has taken 6 years to prosecute this?”

The movers and shakers may be shaking the trees to publicize a common mistake, just like a-hole keeps his next to his car.

Clearly unusual.

All military and govt civilians are fully trained in handling classified information.

Yearly and ad nauseum. And, as annoying as it is to have to go through, THIS is why.

Don’t know if you’re a fan but I *love* the Britcom “Yes,Prime Minister”. In one episode there’s a problem where some gov’t official is thought to be spying for the Russians. While the PM was discussing the matter with his top aide he asks the aide “what if the Russians know?”. The aide says something like “Well,if you know,Prime Minister, then the Russians know. They always get military info before it reaches Number 10”.

There are billions of “classified” documents, and most of them are classified as ‘confidential” which is the lowest classification there is and was usually called “cornyfidenital” when I was in the Army. The other problem is that millions of people have now been given security clearances. It used to be that everyone with a security clearance had to be investigated every year. With millions of security clearances, there is no way that they are able to investigate that many people.

Solution: Give security clearances to ONLY those who actually need them. Stop classifying everything as “confidential” even when there is nothing of any consequence in the document.

A search of his home that same day found a thumb drive containing 135 files that were marked as containing Top Secret, Top Secret/ACCM, Secret, and/or Confidential classified information....

Bad, but chicken feed compared to what Mrs. Bill Clinton practically gave the Russians by having THOUSANDS of classified documents on an unsecure server.
