The first question any reasonable person asks after a horrible crime is, "What could have been done to stop it?" Yet after every mass shooting, gun controllers suggest unworkable, unconstitutional, completely ineffectual ideas that target people who will never commit a crime.
After the twin mass shootings in California last week, Gov. Gavin Newsom (flanked by armed guards) told CBS News more federal gun-control laws were needed because the Second Amendment is "becoming a suicide pact." What he didn't mention was that California has passed not only every law Senate Democrats are proposing in Washington but a slew of others. Anti-gun group Giffords gives California an "A" rating for having the "strongest gun safety laws in the nation and has been a trailblazer for gun safety reform for the past 30 years."
California already has "universal" background checks. It has a 10-day waiting period limit for handgun purchases, a microstamping system, a personal safety test, the ability to sue gun manufacturers even if they haven't broken any law, an age hike on the purchase of certain firearms including rifles from 18 to 21, "red flag" laws that allow police to confiscate guns without due process, a ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, among many other restrictions. Short of letting cops smash down the doors of peaceful gun owners, California has a law for it. And all it's done is leave its citizens defenseless.

It’s about punishing gun owners, and not because they own guns, but because of what they believe. Thought Crime is what the left cannot tolerate.
It’s also to ensure Republicans lose the next election. Hopefully they aren’t chicken or stupid enough to fall for this.

There was an FBI report not many years ago that detailed the high percentage of firearm crimes committed by illegals. This administration’s response is to open the borders and let millions more unvetted illegals in.
Since our country is being invaded, the probability that a majority of us, in my State at least, will pay any attention to these patently unconstitutional edicts is at or close to zero.
Was Huu Can Tran legally entitled to own a gun in Cali? (He had an arrest record involving firearms according to Wiki.)
Was the weapon legally obtained and/or legally owned? (One doubts this. The extended mags alone are verboten in Cali, are they not?)
Did the perp have a concealed carry license?
In total, how many gun laws (that responsible gun owners always obey) did the perp break before firing the first awful shots at the innocent victims?
Crime is no problem for the Left. Their concern is with the possibility of armed opposition to their plans for making themselves all powerful in the society.
This is just for the trained seals to keep them believing Democrats care about them a n.v d it gives the harpies something to squawk about as a distraction from real issues.
The fact that Republicans don't attack Democrats using this argument means they are complicit.
The 'elite' living in gated communities in California are safe - if they don't drive into the cities. Paul Pelosi - who 'just' lived in a upper class neighborhood was almost killed with a hammer. And we're suppose to believe 'gun control' is keeping California safe? These folks are the crazies.
I agree that all Democrats should not be allowed to own guns. Immediately remove from their possession their guns. They want gun control so much let them lead the way and disarm themselves, remove their armed security, and legislate that anyone other than a Democrat should be allowed to own guns.
Newsom’s going national and he wants to run on Kali’s gun control efforts going national as well. The laws serve their intended purpose, which is getting Democrats elected. If they actually worked the Dems would have to find a new issue.
Remember! NOW!!! More than ever, Americans need to keep themselves armed. This is the most dangerous time in America’s history.
Gun laws will help when criminals obey laws.
And blaming people who did not cause the problem is "something."
