Age-wise I’m essentially in the same boat as you. The difference might be my father who was an accountant by training and long long time Republican from a family of WV Republicans. (Tbe family joke back then was all the WV GOP could meet in our living room!) Not rich, my grandfather was a coal miner who owned a general store. Dad set me down in HS and went through the numbers on SS. In short he demonstrated what a fraud it was and FDR solved nothing with it.

Yes, I get it. I'm a victim of SS too. I did not want to play, they forced me. Then spent my money. Now if we want to pretend we are getting our money back, it requires additional stealing from younger folks.
Force and/or fraud invalidate any phony notions that a program is somehow good. If it was good, you would not need force.
Do you support an option for folks to not participate in SS?

With a good supplement plan, you never pay a cent, except for transportation.
