After watching several videos the worst wasn't the body cams, it was the one from the traffic pole cam showing one of the cops kick the suspect in the head, that is not professional and probably lethal.
That policeman should have been charged with first degree murder.
If Tyre had followed the police instructions at the initial traffic stop, none of this would have happened.

RE: It’s awful. Infuriating. I can’t imagine what these guys were thinking. Did they believe there would be no consequences?

True. In these camera filled viral video days police and others have to expect everything is being watched.
A tragic day.
As with school shootings, blame will be spread with a broad brush over police in other states who didn’t violate any rights. But also an example of “absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
We the “domestic terrorists” aka conservative citizens may be at the end of baton bashes tomorrow. Quite common in 1968 to have protesters against Humphrey’s Dem convention kicked, stomped on and brutalized by the Chicago police with FBI undercover agents’ collusion. We’re political, too, from the opposite side.
Good points.
With the 30 plus years ago Rodney King arrest the police cited his strength and fighting against being held for handcuffs. Officers went to prison.
This time Tyre Nichols doesn’t look like he would last two minutes one on one. But five police had to fight him as if he were in a 1973 kung fu movie where the young hero could dispose of five attackers with his flying kicks and deadly throat punches.
Yeah - but don’t kick ‘SUSPECTS’ when they are not a threat. Sh!t, we know who the police will be targeting next.
So they can hold it against us later for not getting riot mob mentality when it was black on black. We knew you never really cared.
I can’t reason out why anyone would want to purposefully hype an explosive situation. The pallets of bricks are all prepositioned?
I didn't see the pole cam video of the kick until after I made my comment.
The cop slowly walked over and then kicked the suspect in the head, that cop should be changed with first degree murder, and that is what probably killed him.
Oh yes. I remember the Dem Convention in ‘68. Cops were brutal, and were dealing with some crazy kids. It depends what group is on the receiving end of LE brutality if it’s called justified or out of control. Sometimes they get so bad one favors anarchy, but soon enough realize they’re a necessary part of society. But without a heart and self-discipline, they can be wicked.
But hearing him calling out for his mom, you know he was now fearing for his life. My heart sank and I pray for peace for his Mom.
As Chris Rock said “If the police have to come and get you, their bringing an azz kicking with them”.

I watched it all. He was resisting arrest from the get go and really never stopped until he was finally subdued. When they caught up to him after he escaped the cops appeared to try pepper spray first. He kept resisting and finally more and more force was employed.
Poor guy is in panic mode. He fears for his life, and he was right to do so!
Don’t get me wrong — I am not saying he got what he deserved. But Lesson #1 is to follow the instructions the cops are giving you. Yeah, you may be scared, but its not that hard. Resisting and running sure makes you look guilty and pi$$es the cops off.
I heard on some report that he was running to his parent’s home and was calling out to her.
If she heard him she probably would have called the police.
.
It’s obviously important. Taxpayers fund cops. In threads about police abuse, expect to see ifinnegan defending them.
And that makes it okay?
No, it’s bad. I didn’t get to the worse parts. I’m pretty desensitized though. Saw a lot of things that are as bad or worse, it’s hard to shock me. This is still 6-8 or so out of 10 bad.
You didn’t see the part where the two cops were holding him, they were all standing, and then one cop laid a couple haymakers on him? It happened almost right after the ASP came out.
It’s actually like a group of thugs jawing after the beat down, except they have badges. Doesn’t seem to be an ounce of either professionalism or attitude amongst that group. Sure seems like some bad cops giving law enforcement a bad name. Of course that thin blue line will make sure it stays hush hush.
